  • "Brands"

Monsanto doesn't even advertise but I bet 90% of what I eat is their brand

...made my first fermented sauce as an effective replacement for soy/fish sauce last week... and my first fermented lemon/garlic/ginger spice yesterday. At the grocery store I play a childish game with myself; in the isles, the floor is lava... fuck brands. I'll make it all, and make it better, by myself. - an American millennial

  • Don't stress about time. All of that is in your head, I promise. Like, I got hit by a car riding a bicycle to work 10 years ago and disabled in a weird way where my only limitation is holding posture. I'm in near social isolation but home life is almost normal-ish. I know I have nothing to offer anyone so I don't bother trying. You can function like this. If you were in prison or disabled, you would be forced to make the best of the situation. It is not the end of the world; not easy, but not the end of the world.

I used to say, never ask for what you are unwilling to give in a relationship, and never expect more than you have to offer. It was a brutal perspective for my present circumstances, but it is still just as true. The most loving gift I can give a future potential love is to never go looking for them. To never put them through what I am experiencing and will eventually experience. I don't know them and never will, but that is the best gift I can give them.

So the question you're asking is not really the right one in my opinion. You should be asking if you would value the situation and how you would act if the roles were reversed.

I had a partner once that thought she was doing this same thing, about to move away in a couple of months. Then she met me and I flipped her priorities in life completely for the next 2 years. You may find a similar dilemma if you choose to meet someone. So, would you date you even if you baited yourself into a long distance situation?

  • Depends on how you do relationships. Like for me, I need a long time to really get over someone and like long term relationships, so I wouldn't.

IMO, I never have looked to date. I don't even know how that works. I just live my life and if someone I encounter is interesting great, if no one is, that is fine too. I have to be happy as just me doing me things to be happy with someone else that does someone else things and maybe meet them in the middle. Otherwise it is going to end ugly.

  • Change contractors! talk to your union rep about opts. Sis is making bank with ros-X

  • Everything will be consumed by the US election and whatever conflict arises as a result. This will result in the first organized broader scope violence since the 1860's. I expect a Kennedy level conspiracy type event that will shape the next decade or more. Getting the guy out of office resulted in a failed coup, and the man is not in jail or dead. That alone shows that the country is dead in the water. This is like Brexit; fuck around and find out how much worse in can be. It was the same with Hitler. Inaction makes it worse because it emboldens monsters. Either way, now is the time to become a tin foil hat vender.

  • The diaspora of the crusaders are their primary funding source without which they will lose for sure against the unlimited funding from Russia and the criminal billionaire oligarchy. It pays to privateer.

    Not justifying it.

  • It was things said in the comments of that post and reading between the lines. I think the change is inevitable and already decided. The main active admin of .world is working on sublinks. That is enough for me to view time spent on building community on .world as a waste. If it was the other way around and they were coding in Rust and the Lemmy base was in js or whatever, maybe I'd think differently, but everything I've seen is a massive red flag saying sinking ship, or at least I'm on the wrong ship and regret the time spent there now. A lot of people left already. I have my other accounts, but had never made a .ml until recently in an attempt to start making sure communities were shared across larger instances, but I guess it was well timed to make the shift.

  • It was MASSIVELY disappointing to see .world go down the path of announcing the intentions of instability with unnecessary change. It was the single most damaging move possible for Lemmy all because of stupid people's anti community politics and people that can't figure out Rust as far as I can tell.

  • I can't move my comments and history with me to another instance; only my settings and subscriptions follow.

Sublinks. You whine and make excuses but didn't make pull requests with good code, and now you are trying to tank the largest instance. Very Spez move of you.

I want nothing to do with your casus belli

  • Never on boats across seas and continents. Nowhere on earth now is really safe from the history and influence of colonialism. All of those expeditions carried a strong religious underpinning that was the primary capital motivation in case of loss. Myanmar is no exception. All of it only happened because it was underpinned by religious bullshit. Many cultures were motivated by trade in the past but none of those that only cared for trade ever had the kind of history of death accompanied by Abrahamic faiths. This is the primary commonality with all of the worst acts in human history in one form or another. Shedding this one awful thing would be the largest positive change possible. Abrahamic faith is the single greatest disease in all of history.

  • Talked about this a ton with an LLM a couple months back. The thing is, there was never an alternative that captured a similar psychotic zealotry. All groups have their faiths throughout the same eras, but none match the exported hate, murder, and industrial scale slaughter of other humans like the Abrahamic faiths. Confusion Monks never invaded France. Buddhists never occupied Scandinavia. The hate, death, and constant conflict of the Abrahamic faiths are the absolute most toxic and harmful aspect of all of humanity. The most deadly conflict since WW2 has been in Africa over the last few years. Most of the west isn't even talking about this. It is a Abrahamic in origin. Gaza is the same. It has all been like this for 2500 years of constant killing. Other places had minor issues, but they never exported and in the present, these others are mostly in decline. If you take away the Abrahamic faiths, I bet all are gone in half a millennia. The man was as schizophrenic as the nations and peoples he left in his wake. Taming the ghost of the worlds most psychotic killer changes everything for the better.

  • The one that stays quiet, gives the benefit of the doubt in all possible circumstances, never takes action when involved in the conversation personally, and can objectively set themselves aside before taking action as a mod; the mod that is invisible to everyone that matters and takes the actions that a distinct majority support.
