  • I have a Kobo Aura H2O that I have had for ages that I love. It replaced another kobo without water resistance. Had kindles before that and I like the integration with overdrive too much to move on to anything else. Plus the store if you want to use it is nice and also has some DRM free options available last time I looked.

  • This is a tough decision that only you can make. I have been in and out of college since 2003 and still have a few classes til my bachelor. What worked for me once I was in the field I wanted was to cut back to one class at a time and just gradually churn through. Depending on your school/work/debt situation this may or may not be doable. What really matters is to step back and ask yourself why you are pursuing school, if continuing now will pay off in the future, and if pausing and returning is something you would actually do if you left now. Does your workplace offer assistance for education? That can be a great help if you want to slow down.

  • Get bitter apple spray for chewing and handle paws, teeth, gums, belly, tail when young. My dog is defensive when nail clipping and it is obnoxious. Keep high value treats on hand and start training as early as you can.

That’s what I wish I did when my dog was a puppy.

  • Wasted light in this context is light that is not serving a purpose. For instance in my neighborhood there is a house that has security lights that shine well beyond their property lines and are triggered on sensor from across the street movement. These lights also illuminate upwards which provides no benefit. Simply controlling where light shines if you must have it is a good step to being a good neighbor and is better for nature as well.

  • As someone who has been trying to get my vision for a piece to fruition using AI for months…I absolutely think AI is OC. The argument that it references existing work cracks me up because all of art history is derivatives of what has come before. I do think there is “low effort” pieces, but you get that in other mediums as well such as photography. Also…need I mention Duchamp and the urinal?

  • lemmit.online already has this and I blocked the communities of that instance because I don’t want Reddit content…I want Lemmy content.

If you do decide to do it, use a bot specific instance with bot specific communities. Don’t flood existing communities with bot content.

  • When I first started browsing for new communities that is exactly what I did. I used the browser on my Pc to have one tab with my native instance (midwest.social) and one with the instance I wanted to browse. Once I found something I was interested in I went to my instance, searched with the !community@instance.etc formatting twice (once to discover if need be and the second to actually get to the community). The I could go to the sidebar and subscribe.

It was tedious but helped me get involved more in other instances. browse.feddit.de I believe is a browseable list of communities if you would rather search that way.
