  • Me: Get me some Michelin tires, please

    Mechanic: Here you go mate

Me: by any chance do you know where I can get a detailed guide of the finest restaurants in the country?

Mechanic: well you won't belive this...

  • I used zoloft at first, which imo didnt do jack shit, then went to wellbutrin, which made me completely unable to sleep (I was doing 48h awake, crashing out, sleeping 4 hours, repeat), and now I'm back on Zoloft, which I still feel like doesn't do jack shit but at least no side effects are manifestating

tl;dr I have no fucking clue, good luck

  • methylated spirits are the ones used for cleaning, lab grade ethanol needs to be just ethanol or some reactions might fail, however in some badly managed labs you might find mislabeled stuff and have contaminants

still, you shouldn't drink it anyways, as some producers use the highly carcinogenic benzene to make pure 100% ethanol, as distillation with water can only get you up to the 95,6% azeotrope, and some benzene might make it's way in the product

  • he's lucky to have a big enough channel to be able to afford 40000$ NMR machines, so a couple beakers aren't that much of an expense for much more safety

but as a home chemist, there is NO WAY I'm getting new beakers every time I wanna do edible chem, especially pyrex branded ones like Nile does. Lab equipment, even basic glassware, is ridiculously overpriced

  • could also check for urea content, or proteins, but sure why not drink it

  • rinse -> acetic acid -> rinse -> Acqua regia-> Rinse -> Pirahna solution -> Rinse -> 500°C oven -> Rinse

I would then drink from it without even worrying

  • hell nah I'm just gonna sip on some water and patiently wait for the moment where I'm suddenly treated as their savior for still being able to drive

  • x: your eyes are as bright as a star

my dumbass: actually, did you know that the sun outputs 3.83×1026 W? that's so much that the energy output by the Sun in just one hour could power the Earth for about 56.1 trillion years at the current global consumption rate. Or, if you ....blah blah blah something something Kardashev scale....

    yeaaaa not my proudest move

  • as someone who just doesn't like the taste of alcohol, being the only sober guy in a friend group where everyone's drunk sucks so much

  • distilled water, lab grade ethanol, a couple drops of limonene, and there you go

  • it's not a logistics nightmare, we used to do that until plastic gave us the idea of single use containers, many restaurants still do it with larger 1L bottles

also, while yes glass does have a really high melting point, most plastics never get recycled and instead get burnt, releasing a lot of toxic chemicals in the air (and even if they weren't, you can only recycle some types of plastics, and even if you did, new objects can be made only by some percentage of recycled plastic, and never 100%)

  • could be all a facade to get some votes from the centrists, we can't know yet

  • FYI cans have a plastic liner to prevent acidic foods from dissolving the aluminium, so there's still some plastic in it (much less then fully plastic bottles tho)

  • right, you fan disabile them using their unique software which you have to install for every component, signing away your life (cough cough Disney) in the process

  • guilty! should have read it before commenting blindly

    for everyone else reading,

a dysfunctional ABCC11 gene is also connected to drier, less goopy earwax. “So less of that means less body odor, and also translates to dry earwax.”

  • hold on what's the connection between the two? what type of earwax is present in people with less body odor?

TL:DR cloudflare made a new recaptcha which does some complex math and other stuff on your browser, which done once has no noticable effect but if someone were to scrape websites at an absurd speed it slows everything down significantly.

this is not only cool because you don't have to manually solve the captcha, but also because it allows for low-speed scraping to be feasible, with tools like flaresolverr

  • and you'd be right. If you are sure about it, and you know how it works, just make it yourself, so that you don't need to put anyone else in danger of getting sued.

The reason hardware stores don't sell them is that people WILL use them in a dangerous way, and they don't want to be held responsible.

  • usually college networks have a Mac address whitelist, so you need to turn off Mac spoofing in order to connect
