That's so funny to me. I've been irritated by my downvotes on lemmy but I never really knew why. Your comment is an example of the 'no-true scotsman' falacy. These people believe in Christianity and believe what they are doing is consistent with the religion. That's literally all it takes to be part of the religion, regardless of whether or not someone else thinks they aren't following the religion strictly enough. To that end, they could say that you are not a real Christian because you don't follow their perception of how the religion should be followed. Whose to say who is right when everyone can interpret the bible their own way. And it's not like the religious leaders are coming out against right wing authoritarianism, hell a lot of them preach every sunday.

That's all a long winded way to say that yes, these people are christians and in the united states over half of them believe and vote in a way that makes them incompatible with modern society.

It's likely not Amazon itself that is selling these soups, Amazon usually is a market for 3rd party sellers. The actual seller would have to eat the cost of the refund or replacement, so amazon isn't losing any money.

That said, the company who did sell these needs to have better standards

I think this comment really understates just how effective Hitler was as a politician and a leader. He tried to forcibly take over the government and it failed. That part any "little Hitler" could do and also likely fail. What set him apart was his charisma and appeal to the downtrodden, not unlike a certain US politician. He was so well loved and respected that he was able to do heinous acts with near universal support. I don't think there are many people in history that can do that sort of thing as effectively as he did

I think you make a good point that over reacting to perceived offenses can make the "victims" look bad, but the idea that only those who identify as the victim have any right to speak on it is nonsense. I'm a white person but I'm going to call out racism when I see it because to my view of a just society, that racism cannot be allowed. I have nobody in my life that is trans and the current right wing war against trans people doesn't affect me at all, but I'm still going to be an ally and stand against it.

And honestly anyone who blamed trans people for the harry potter game backlash likely wasn't a fan of trans people to begin with. I wouldn't worry so much about their opinion.
