  • I have relatives who moved to the states, they tend to come down once a year since they have their own business and can easily take off time whenever, whereas for me as a full-time employee it's not so simple. I've already not visited the states in quite a few years so that part isn't a loss for me at least.

I dunno if they will visit this year though, that will be interesting to see what happens with that.

  • I know someone who was fed up with Windows recently, and they decided it's finally time to switch to Linux. Me and another person recommended Linux Mint, but they got many other recommendations for Arch. They went with Arch, and it hasn't gone boom yet, but I'm not sure if it's a matter of time or what.

I have heard Arch is more "stable" these days than it used to be, but I'm not sure.

I use Ubuntu myself except for on my ThinkPad where I use Mint, and I'm gonna switch to Mint on my desktop eventually.

  • That said, I’ll take what you said on faith, because I think you’re spot on with everything else.

I mean, it's not a secret that governments everywhere run really outdated software (think things like Windows 7 and older) because "it works", so it really shouldn't be too surprising.

  • Yep, just like serverless computing that doesn't use servers, or how games benefit heavily from the blockchain and companies are always hiring blockchain devs despite not knowing what the blockchain is or why they need blockchain devs other than because they heard they need it.

Don't get me started with IoT.
