  • GM has the Bolt, and now the Silverado, Ford has the MachE and the Lightning, Dodge is catching up, mostly with Jeep of all brands.

The Jeep wrangler PHEV is the top selling hybrid. The bolt and MachE are pretty great and can be found on the used market with decent miles for an affordable amount. The Lightning is a fantastic truck, better in almost every way that matters than the cyber truck. The Silverado EV is just launching but seems very capable.

Ford is the number 2 EV seller behind Tesla. If you think American manufacturer aren’t producing shit, you’re just not looking.

  • I mean, they’re called a tree, but they’re an overgrown cactus. They don’t get very big and don’t have near the carbon capture something like a pine does. But there are plenty of areas of just scrub brush better suited for this project.

  • Umm maybe it’s stubbornly popular because devices running it can’t be updated. My OG surface book (a Microsoft flagship device for awhile) is great hardware, but can’t update to 11. My gaming laptop is even better hardware but doesn’t meet the win11 requirements. Because they are sealed devices. I literally couldn’t if I wanted to.

  • Kind of love and hate that their website doesn’t explicitly say what it does. Like, if you can’t figure it out, you probably shouldn’t do it, even their GitHub is a bit dodgy on what the software is for, you can figure it out, but it’s never explicitly stated what it’s specifically meant for. “We help you install old versions of the app who must not be named” kinda bullshit.

  • Does he want to take a budget option away? At one point he says “And they still charge $12” to me that says that’s close to what proper wired earbuds should cost. People are getting screwed buying something that should have higher sound quality and getting the cheapest Bluetooth quality instead.

  • Fucking time zones and daylight saving/summertime. I live in a place that doesn’t change my clocks twice a year, but constantly deal with people that do. The number of times I have people say EST when they mean EDT is too damn high. Worse when they say MST, cause then I have to ask “are you in Arizona?” to which they look at me confused and say no. Then I about blow a gasket cause “then you’re not in MST!” If you’re going to live in a place that always changes your clocks, get your own terminology right dammit.

  • You were ready to leave over a banner ad? What should YouTube do to recoup the cost of running the service? Not even make a profit, just the cost of existing at the scale it exists is expensive. Unobtrusive banner ads seemed like the right “price” for the service. Having ads tell me I’m fat and need whatever they’re hucking or scare monger me to vote a certain way are too much, but banners seemed fair.

  • From 97-2000 I drove a ‘77 GMC truck that was designed for leaded gas which was not available any more. I just used unleaded. No additives or anything. Maybe the fact it was a V8 meant it could stand being a little out of tune, but I never saw any adverse affects.

  • I mean, let’s be real, Ford isn’t losing 100k/ev, their EV division has lost $100k/EV sold so far. It takes a lot of initial capital to get factory lines off the ground. Plus all the R&D that goes into turning and electric Edge into a “Mustang” and making an EV truck that fits the F150 mold.

They are chasing the dragon of early adopters that were willing to drop $100k on a platinum trim truck. There aren’t anymore left. What the market needs is an electric maverick, and a return of the electric Focus. Both could be done for less than $30k and they would sell like crazy. But Ford is stuck thinking EV = premium, when there aren’t many people left with premium budgets, at least until the economy improves for the masses again.

  • Good God, your utility company isn’t even using lube when they fuck you with a rusty shovel. Without solar, my time off use plan would make it $0.08/kWh. With solar I don’t even bother figuring out what my cost per mile is because it’s irrelevant till I need a fast charger. I don’t even pay $0.50/kWh at a fast charger usually. I’d be going with a full off-grid solar battery system if I were you. Charging my neighbors cars for free before selling a joule back to those assholes

  • Because there are very few diseases and conditions that can be detected before birth, and unless they have physical development characteristics (this one doesn’t until after birth) the only way to diagnose them is an invasive procedure that it’s dangerous to the fetus so they are only done when there is a very high suspicion that there is something to detect.
