  • I remember that, one of many false promises. But still, the whole DNC apparatus worked alongside him. They had so many opportunities to find other candidates and instead held onto this losing administration because it’s more important that they keep their political operative career than do what’s best for the country.

  • The only difference between dems and repubs is one are religious fanatics. People in currently blue states are safe from them, those who are not, are not.

This is definitely something serious that we shouldn’t downplay. I’m of the belief (in agreement with you) that the parties are mostly the same, and the dems just talk a whole lot of talk on domestic stuff and then do worse than nothing. But the christofascists backing trump are far more terrifying than trump himself and they’re not going anywhere, they vastly predate his political career. But in the past they were a weird loud minority, they still are but they’re not such a small minority anymore and THAT is fucking terrifying.

  • Obviously you can’t go back in time but you should of voted for the down ballot candidates that are pertinent to your day to day life where you live, and then voted third party or even left it blank for the president.

Your local candidates at the state and lower level have nothing to do with Gaza but do decide if your schools are properly staffed and if your potholes are filled, etc.

  • That’s because nobody believes biden/Harris and for good reason. They’re lying, they have just as much of a plan to turn Gaza into prime oceanfront real estate for wealthy NYC metro area zionists with dual citizenship as the republicans. They’ll just paint the bombs with progress pride and blm flags while lying to your face about their intentions and speaking out of both sides of their mouth depending on their audience. It’s sickening. They’re both going to genocide Palestinians, does it really matter if they’re turned to glass in days or in weeks?

  • Asking people why they voted for trump, genuinely, required people to actually talk to people different than them and not get triggered and lose their shit in the process. That’s a tall order these days.

I’m a lifelong political independent (far left and politically homeless in the US) so it’s a lot easier for me to have conversations with trump voters than it is for blue maga to do so.

The summary of the frighteningly many trump voters I know in VT is that they hated both candidates but found trump marginally better on the economy (they’re worse off now than they were four years ago) and foreign policy (biden was straight up weak, trump can argue that he’s “anti war” although anyone with half a brain shouldn’t believe him he’ll bomb Iran the first chance he gets). They don’t like the Christian fascism, they don’t like the racism, they don’t like the homo/transphobia (or are ambivalent on the trans part, I’m gay and I can confidently say these people aren’t homophobic) - but ultimately these social issues take the backseat to the fact that inflation is fucking them and we’re on the verge of WW3 and both of these things objectively got worse under biden.

  • I was born and raised Jewish, going to Hebrew school in addition to English school from preschool to 14. The horrors of the Holocaust and all it’s trauma was shoved down my throat at far too young of an age to be appropriate. Never again means so much to me, one of my deepest held beliefs. Never again isn’t just Jews but any group hunted down for their ethnicity (not to mention all the other undesirables murdered in the Holocaust, such as the disabled and queer).

What’s going on in Gaza is a Holocaust. I can’t live with myself and sleep at night if I vote for trump or Harris, because materially for Gaza they are the same. I voted third party. In 2020 I held my nose and voted for biden. I’m disgusted with myself for doing so. He managed to be worse than I could ever imagine. And the liberals were out to fucking brunch for the past four years.

I will drink liberal tears all damn day long. They can whine and cry and carry on like entitled spoiled rotten children all they want. They were warned that they would lose if they continued to pursue the path they were on and that’s exactly what happened and I have zero remorse for it. And for the record, I’m a visibly queer woman who’s experienced a lot of physical violence in my life for being queer.

  • Again, that’s your feelings. You’re in the denial stage of grief. The American populace definitively decided that trump was the better candidate whether you like it or agree with it. I hate the guy but I can’t blame them when the democrats refuse to engage in democracy and run a shit candidate. Who lost. In a landslide. And lost the senate! And likely the house!

  • I didn’t vote for trump, and my state went to Harris.

Enjoy the eventual blowback that comes from supporting Israel’s bullshit. Those beeper terror attacks, or the use of ai to surveil and jail the populace for thought crime is only a matter of time before that tech gets used against Americans on American soil.

Scratch a liberal and a fascist bleeds. It’s like you just can’t hold democrats accountable for throwing all of us under the bus rather than run electable candidates that go through a legitimate primary process.

  • Harris doesn’t support shit except whatever the military industrial complex wants. She speaks out of both sides of her mouth and lacks any original thoughts of her own at all on any issue let alone Israel.

Both candidates want to turn Palestine into glass and then oceanfront vacation homes for rich Zionist NYC metro area assholes who aren’t content with just stealing homes.

  • The candidate selection process on the democrat side is rigged, which is why voters voted wrong in the eyes of liberals.

Democrats are just as responsible for making the bed we’re all forced to sleep in. Running a god awful candidate that didn’t even go through a primary process and then being shocked at the loss is key out to brunch idiocy.

Also if your whole government stops relying on us (for weapons, obviously, that’s our only export) maybe our taxes will go to universal healthcare instead of being the worlds policeman.

  • I almost didn’t vote but my state makes it so damn easy it would be stupid not to. I voted third party for the general and then a split ticket for everything else with as much third party as I could. I live in VT, Harris, sanders, and Scott were all shoe ins with massive % so the only races that were remotely competitive were down ticket. My local politician for state office has run unopposed the entire time I’ve been here. He’s a “democrat Republican” which brings me back to revolutionary war period america lol.

  • Harris lost. Period. End of story. Electoral college and popular vote. Whether you agree or not is irrelevant, the voters decided trump was the better candidate.

If what you said is true we wouldn’t be having this conversation because Harris would of been elected with similar margins.
