  • The medical examiner’s office determined the manner of death to be suicide

Suicide is not a “manner of death”. A manner of death is something like “hanging” or “gunshot wound” or “cardiac arrest”.

I wonder if they’re leaving the actual manner of death unstated as a trap to see if anyone reveals knowledge of how he died.

Also, this is an amazing portrait:

  • As a libertarian I have no problem with communism as Marx envisioned it: people spontaneously sharing because they feel like it.

That kind of communism is free.

The problem is when people use guns and governments to force others to “share” against their will. Marx believed that was a necessary step, that would produce the abundance that would allow people to relax and work spontaneously for the collective.

What Marx failed to understand is the most productive economic plan is letting people do what they want (free markets), and that what people want to do is trade.

  • Especially in America, where access to healthcare is gatekept by a special class of people whose permission you need to obtain healthcare.

Imagine if you needed a prescription for new clothes, and couldn’t buy new clothes until someone else signed a sheet of paper saying you were allowed to buy a pair of jeans.

That’s not in any way a free market.

  • Maybe they think a child abuser who has just received a beating is more likely, not less likely, to go on and abuse children.

Think about it: do you really think a man who beats his children is gonna be a better dad after he gets beaten up?

Violence is a complex subject, and people’s instinct to solve problems with beating up people they’re frustrated with is a curse of humanity, no matter how obvious a solution it may seem in the moment.

Some people, lots of people actually, and with good reason, think that violence begets violence.
