  • It was pretty bananas for a minute. The Mazda dealership offered us 5,000 more than we paid brand new for my wife’s Mazda 3 in 2018. I told the salesperson that it makes no fucking sense and he couldn’t explain it either. Didn’t go for it for a bunch of reasons but it was really odd.

  • I think less people makes it harder to get lost so it’s worth commenting. If you sort Reddit by hot, there’s already thousands of comments and most likely no one is ever going to see your post. So why bother? Most of my posts on Reddit are in small subreddits for pretty much the same reason I comment more here.

  • I like Budgie. It looks nice, lightweight, and doesn’t get in the way. There’s a few missing features but I like that it’s a smaller community project.

  • There’s so much irony in this comment it cured my anemia

  • I’m pretty short and one benefit of the adjustable standing desk I hadn’t considered is that I can make it lower and actually sit comfortably.

  • You’re not the intended audience

  • Similar age, noticing the same. It never used to matter. Although I also used to have jobs where I was on my feet all day so I’m not sure what is aging and what is living a sedentary life. I usually have a handful of almonds in the afternoon and that’s fine. Also avoiding afternoon coffee seems to help.

But I’ve started walking for a half hour before work and after a couple weeks, I feel like I have more energy in general.

  • He also supported Texas’ attempt to sue Pennsylvania over the 2021 election like a dumb dumb. He’s only marginally less human garbage than jungle gym but I guess that’s where we’re at.

  • The problem is the walled garden, both ecosystems have those features but they don’t work together. If all your friends have iPhones, there’s a lot of pressure to also have an iPhone. And once you’re in, you’re not likely getting out unless all your social circle does at once. That kind of lock in is extremely valuable.

  • I know I was just being rude

  • You can get CTE from faking injuries?

  • Markup languages like HTML are declarative. That means you use it to describe the result you want but you don’t give it any instructions for how to actually do that. An imperative language is used to actually describe the behavior. Traditional programming languages are imperative. An imperative language is necessary to interpret the HTML and actually display the content in the desired way. You can’t use HTML to accomplish anything by itself. This distinction is why calling HTML a programming language is contentious.

  • WebOS is such a sad story. It started as a pretty innovative and interesting mobile OS at a time when phone manufacturers bothered to innovate. Then it ended up being owned by the grossest software company ever, HPE, and now it’s a pathetically crappy TV operating system. What is LG even doing?

  • The other side is that federation exists so you’re not tied to an instance if it no longer reflects your values. Why not move since Lemmy.world seems to want to stay federated? Other instances have lemmygrad blocked.

  • Interesting. I still use the 360 controller on my PC because that thing is a tank. Basically indestructible. But my One controllers are garbage. The plastic was so badly formed I got aftermarket grips because it was constantly pinching my hands. It also feels like I could twist it in to pieces with by hand. The Series X controller fails to live up to the 360 but it feels significantly more solid and the pieces at least fit together.

  • Dawn doesn’t seem to dry out my hands like Palmolive or every other dish soap. I think they all work good enough but I hate the way they make my hands feel.

  • This community makes more sense when you realize the majority of users are CS students.

  • Why would you presume that? Maybe they’re suffering and trying to raise awareness.
