Language evolves with every generation, yes. But I offered something different from that.

I offered that the relationship between word and thing was becoming more tenuous. Like two telephones drawing further apart. The conversation breaking up.

We talk less about reality now. We talk more about talking.

It's Japan tho.

I don't care about the details. I just want an out-group to hate on.

I just recently heard it used that way. To describe "conservatives". Much like "yikes" I guess. They assign a new meaning to it and thus it is so.

Words are different these days. Like, words used to have a secondhand association with reality. But now it's thirdhand.

Ai has ideas? That's a bit of a philosophical stretch.

Morality is a great tool for justifying legal enforcement of my desires. All it takes is a good argument connecting the two.

The arguments are getting less good here tho. They're getting very thin and flimsy.

What would happen if we threw away the moral argument?

What if instead of offering a moral argument for why you shouldn't pirate their movies, Disney just said "come at me bro"?

First paragraph addresses the overheads of running a biz.

Second paragraph proffers a specious moral argument.

A connection is vaguely insinuated.

My friend (an old lady unfamiliar with pirates) bought a dvd the other day. A comedy from 15 years ago.

It had been censored. Offensive dialogue dubbed over. No warning on rhe package.

And the selection is VASTLY superior.

Instead of accessing only what netflix is "offering" today, I have access to EVERYTHING. All the time. Forever. Even obscure weird old stuff.

Could moderation be handled democratically with votes and such? Create a system with central authority and you'll just get people trying to be the central authority.

It's people and society. Centralized control doesn't work. A better moderation system would let the individual manage his own filtering, instead of being involuntarily "helped".

Democracy is clearly the only proper way to manage a society, yet we continue to use totalitarian dictators. Weird.
