  • My comment wasn't about how it is ok or not, just at the fact that it's the republicans trying to cancel someone when all they do constantly is talk about cancel culture

  • Sometimes I think about his downfall, like at some point it seemed everyone liked him or had a somewhat positive view of him. Now he bans the word "cis" but allows doxxing people and the regular use of the hard-r (I've seen it used as a direct insult to a black person) on his platform

  • this coming from the haters of "cancel culture" is really funny and weird

  • Canada has a huge competition problem and the liberals and conservatives are too corrupt to change anything about this. We have 3 grocery company and 3 telecom providers that both fix prices so fuxking high, and the government keeps giving them subsidies aka free money. I really hope one day a government with some balls will get elected and decide to force these companies to split up. I promise to myself that if I ever get enough money, I would start a telecom company and sell plans at cost + a fixed margin, just to hurt the big players. This happened in France 20 years ago with Free, they basically had the same situation as we have here, and they came up with a plan that was still profitable but was wayyy less expensive than the competition. Of course the big players tried suing Free but they lost and now France has among the lowest telecom prices for developed countries

  • Firefox supports MV3, with some tweaks such as the WebRequest limitations added by Google's MV3 being removed from the Firefox implementation. I don't think they will remove it

  • I don't think it's that biased and unrepresentative, as Pornhub's usage statistics show about the same numbers for global Linux usage

  • Yeah, 100% of the time I end up on Wikipedia is from clicking a link on google and whatnot, I never actually open Wikipedia then search it with their search thing

  • I hope this isn't intended as cheap way for them to reduce the 7 years of support down to 6

  • Il feels like every month that passes Linux keeps breaking all time highs! So exciting

  • If you want to be extra safe I guess the best way would be to use the web version of Instagram with ublock origin installed. If you can find a way to use Firefox containers on Android as well it could really restrict what they can access.

  • I can guarantee you nobody got fired for these machines, the turnover is already so fucking high there that it's not even needed. When I worked at MCD I lasted an entire year and excluding the managers I was probably in the top 3-4 in terms of "seniority"

  • It's the kind of thing that in a few years you'll be glad to have because some tasks will be offloaded from the GPU to the NPU, one I can think of is the background blur in video conferencing software or microphone noise suppression

  • Counter point: everyone on Lemmy is chronically online

  • I don't really understand what you mean, do you have examples of how you would use it? Or a scenario where you would need it

  • It's that for the broadcast area, about half is gonna get rain.

Isn't that virtually the same thing as a 50% chance of rain at my position though?

  • Yeah I guess torrents would be the closest thing to federated video, but seeing the download speed of most torrents that I find even ones with many seeds, it is often balls slow

  • Very unlikely to happen, it's way too expensive or demanding to run at a significant scale and it would probably end up with a single monolithic instance

  • It semi does, iirc it's a port of the Android version, which probably works because android uses a Linux kernel

  • JMP supports SIP, so that could be worth looking into, because I don't think call forwarding services exist for xmpp to sim, but sip to sim probably exists. You might also want to cross post this to the sopranica community on lemmy

    !sopranica@lemmy.ml

Maybe your flip phone has support for an XMPP client, I don't think there's a single os without an xmpp client, but you may need to jailbreak it
