Because Trump is going to buckle on the tariffs. He will come up with some reason they aren't needed, or they're severely reduced, and he pretends he's the hero in the story.

The funny thing is this is Trump's way of trying to insult Canada and our PM, but he comes off sounding like an idiot who doesn't know Trudeau's proper title.

I left IT to open a small amusements company (link) a few years ago. So far we've been doing well and just doubled our floor space. Arcades, amusements, movies, etc, usually do well enough in recessions because they are cheap forms of entertainment. A family can't afford a huge trip over the holidays, but they'll stay home and see movies and other things.

The one thing that will change is what we have in our candy story. We JUST brought in a bunch of US candies. I'm not pulling them off the shelf but once they sell, I won't be replacing them. We're going to look for more UK and Japan candies which have always done well.

There is a little buzz that Trump is going to back pedal in a day or two, which would be hilarious. But I think we keep the pressure on even if he does.

Politics aside: I live in PEI and there is an area called Vernon River which has been iced over for the last month except at the Hwy 1 bridge. There is a large flock of Canada geese that have been hanging out in this water area for weeks.

A few weeks back I noticed goose carcasses scattered around. It was a horrorshow. There was one on the hwy. A pile down on the ice. They were everywhere. There were several eagles, a few hawks, and a couple of larger birds I assume were vultures. Looking closer many of the geese were is pretty bad form. Standing, but their heads were on the ice. Some on their sides. Some off on their own way up the river.

It turns out avian flu is taking out a huge section of this flock and the birds of prey are eating them - which will probably result in those birds getting sick. Every day I drive by and there are more dead. Sometimes you see a single goose just standing along side the highway clearly in bad health.

It's really sad.

I would like to see mass sanctions on the US. Isolate the crap out of them.

I think it will. China has announced sanctions on particular US companies. I'd like to see more of that on Trump-positive businesses.
