  • I hope this is the one thing that he actually follows through on. Drive a stake through it already

  • lemm.ee is cool because it federates with so many other instances. I don’t understand why so many people are set on taking that away when they could just join a different instance that shares their zeal for defederating.

  • Thank you for posing that question! I think the tendency to blame Russia/China/whomever is a complete failure to address the actual root of the issue.

If everyone who works for a non-American intelligence agency suddenly lost the ability to post on the internet, would Americans start getting along better? Or would a significant percentage of Americans still have a reactionary hate fest running on their televisions every waking hour, their opinions reinforced by Facebook echo chambers full of other actual Americans? I think the difference would be so small as to be imperceptible.

When it comes to tearing each other apart and working against our shared interests, America has a well-oiled machine running that hardly requires any foreign intervention.

  • It’s definitely not the nonstop right-wing hate machine media infrastructure that’s entrenched in American life. And it’s most certainly not an American capitalist class that hoards the wealth and has every incentive to keep the working class at each others’ throats.

    It must be cHiNeSe pRoPaGaNdA

  • If someone tells you no or you try and fail at something, life actually just continues on from that point, and you can try other things

  • yim yum

  • I went through way too many cases trying to find one that’s very slim and has a decently grippy texture. Aramid fiber (Kevlar) turned out to be perfect. I’m currently using this Pitaka case and love it. It’s a mere 0.65mm thick. The iPhone 15 ones seem to be thicker and more robust at 0.95mm, but they have the same case shape and grip.

  • It's got that Chrono Trigger Feel™. The first time we triggered a battle, the party and enemies all jumped to their starting places on the map. I was so happy

  • As a Gamecock, thanks for all these nice pictures of Columbia.

Also, I'm so sorry that you're in Columbia during the summer

  • Well, I thought tunnel excavation would be exciting, but...

  • At first glance, this makes zero sense, but once you dig in and read the details, it makes even less sense

  • Very cool that they have a mix with MythoMax right out of the gate. It'll be interesting to see the differences between MythoMax/Pygmalion-2/Mythalion as everyone kicks the tires.

  • I had the same experience. I had to use the lemm.ee default web interface to block the two repost bots.

  • Why is it gross? They're posting things on their own server as a service to users who want it. They're not being dishonest or deceitful about it.

  • Firefish (Mastodon-compatibile microblogging) has a view called "Recommended", which is like "All" but shows posts from only federated servers that the admins recommend. It's a great feature and would be welcome on Lemmy.

In the meantime, I've blocked the two Reddit repost bot accounts and have been just fine since.

  • I don’t personally find these bot posts useful, and I think they clutter up the All timeline, but they aren’t being deceitful or anything, and there may be folks who find these posts useful. I like the lemm.ee federation policy of generally allowing everything unless it’s full of bad actors.

  • “Buy, wait, never touch”

Cool, they’re describing most of my game library

  • You just have to balance it with enough golf or wrestling that the audience builds up a tolerance for it

  • I love Crouton. The family sharing stuff works well, and it does everything we need it to do.
