  • surveillance and censorship is much harsher in China than anywhere else.

    source of this claim?

  • it could easily last a few more years but after that long you should assume it could fail any day and either don't keep anything critical on it or make regular backups of anything important.

  • they aren't really left-wing at all... maybe from an american perspective because they have some welfare state aspects like state healthcare? they are still capitalist and any socialised aspects have been diminishing intensely since 2008 in favour of regular old neoliberalism. sweden is literally a monarchy which recently joined the nazi alliance NATO, and the scandinavian states are firmly on the side of the US and imperialism when it comes to geopolitics, as well as benefiting from the incredible exploitation of the global south like any global north countries. socially they have been trending more right-wing too like most of europe, anti-immigrant and anti-queer sentiments rising. nordic socialism was never real socialism, it was a flavour of european social democracy with all the national and social chauvinism and continued exploitation by a capitalist ruling class that entails. and any commendable aspects like i said have been steadily whittled away since 2008.

  • i was thinking of switching to vanilla arch but ended up going the other way and installed Nobara KDE on my laptop. I've had it on my main machine for a while and really like it. i prefer tiling on a laptop too and normally use i3 but i've been able to get a satisfactory tiling setup within KDE using Krohnkite.

  • i was liking endeavor but had to switch cause they started putting AI slop desktop backgrounds in updates

  • giving the pigs and the feds more powers isn't gonna help anything lol

  • also solved this by updating the controller firmware but yeah, you have to do that on windows unfortunately

  • who made you the fun police

  • wildly skewed towards old people

  • I just try to channel Gramsci:

"You must realize that I am far from feeling beaten…it seems to me that… a man out to be deeply convinced that the source of his own moral force is in himself — his very energy and will, the iron coherence of ends and means — that he never falls into those vulgar, banal moods, pessimism and optimism. My own state of mind synthesises these two feelings and transcends them: my mind is pessimistic, but my will is optimistic. Whatever the situation, I imagine the worst that could happen in order to summon up all my reserves and will power to overcome every obstacle."

and this dude was dying in a fascist prison and able to hold this outlook. i find it inspiring

  • i have faith this will be resolved eventually/they will have to admit kernel anticheat isn't even meaningfully more effective and give up on it. anyway loads of people don't play multiplayer AAA so it's a no brainer already for them. as the mass of people migrating continues to grow devs/publishers hopefully will have to catch up. 2% of the steam hardware survey is linux now, it could be 5% within the decade. that's my optimistic outlook, i know i shouldn't underestimate how out of touch the epic games suits etc. are though

  • "intellectual property" and copyright would just be totally abolished in an ideal world

  • i got around this by opening cmd (Shift + F10) during the setup and disabling the network adapter.

    wmic nic get name, index

wmic path win32_networkadapter where index = 2 call disable

index will be 1 or 2 probably depending on your setup it was 2 for me. this worked for me recently on boxes on fedora with a win10 iso.
