  • Well you've inspired me at least to A. Reposition my security camera I use to monitor my prints and B. Very seriously consider setting up an octoprint thing. Right now I like to build post hoc time lapses but I have to take an SD card Out of the camera and put them together in video editing software. Is your camera strapped to the zaxis of your printer? Mind sharing some info /photos about your setup? Looks nice.

  • Not many systems they can't, but my outline is a lot of hoops to jump through and also has a significant time gate which limits rapid attacks. Also, there's enough steps for opportunities for pattern detection to sniff out bots here as well

  • A karma system is sounding pretty good right now... /me lifts shield and ducks

Even if it's just a a limited tiered system with numbers to obsess about. Level - 1 browsing rights. Graduate to level 2 after 5 days and total of greater than 30minutes of logged in activity

Level - 2 commenting rights. Limited to 10 comments daily for 5 days.

Graduate after at least 3 comments, total upvote count >+3, and 5days.

Level 3 - posting rights. Limited to 3 posts daily for 5 days. Unlimited commenting.

Graduate after 5d and total upvote count >50

Level 5 - you've made it, everyone is equal here. Entry level users are still enjoying and growing into the community. No need to be a tool about trying to get more karma / points and number of bots / temp accounts / total losers should be minimal by this screening level.

  • Why take these summer breaks in the first place? Are your kids needed on the farms still? Or is it because salty teachers are underpaid and having summer breaks is th only way the US can convince them to work. Where is the data that summer breaks help any students at all? Poor or rich smart or lazy? What about the kids that don't get lunches when they are not in school? Summer slumping is a detriment to all, to society. I don't see many teachers willing to stand up to that as the underlying issue, and I don't see how it's fair to blame those that are either willing or able to fight it independently with additional learning. They are not the ones to aim your laser at.

  • That's great. My time is worth less than theses crazy prices and I work better if I get something to eat and this is faster than getting the very limited and terrible food at work. Do I feel like the prices are insane? Yep. But it's a value call and since there isn't another option that allows for good quality food quickly, they get my money. This didn't used to exist and that sucked, so maybe we are just undervaluing how great this is. Would be greater not paying $60 for lunch though, so yeah, I'm gonna keep paying and grumbling about it at the same time. I really hope drone services take off soon and have better pricing.

  • I've been very impressed with Prusa Slicers ability to do this kind of thing. I keep telling myself I'll do it in Tinkercad if I have any issues with Prusa slicer, but I always seem to accomplish what I need there.

  • Almost all of those things were tech that pushed the limits. They paid for it with poor sales or glitches, but thank God they took some chances instead of just upgrading the pixels on a camera year after year. I applaud these disasters.

  • It's a huge issue actually. All those beeps do prevent sleep and sleep deprivation worsens hospital dementia and slows healing. It's antiquated AF. Who needs to hear the beeps? The Nurse. Nurse could be many yards away so beeps need to be loud. Do you really think this is the best way we have in the 21st century to alert nurses?

  • Despite your experience it's alive and well. If reddit is a dying mall what is Lemmy? To scale it's like an unmaintained Porta potty.

I hate reddit, but let's not be ridiculous. It's more than fine. Google has really gone to shit. When people search for things they put in site=reddit as a more reliable way to find real information.
