  • Just what I needed lol I love it

  • I have always held that opossums are cute. This is a cute trash baby.

    Edit: Opossums*

  • Gotcha. Yeah, I remember seeing some blurb about a change and wasn't sure exactly what changed. Thanks!

  • Doesn't the OLED need a higher watt power supply? Like 65W or something? I don't remember the specs, but that would be something to be aware of, too.

Edit: Nevermind, looks like they're all 45W.

  • Totally. Yeah, I'd recommend dongles like you and I both posted, then. I will say that yours looks pretty solid in that it can rest flat when the deck is propped up. Both of mine kinda hang off the top of the deck and bend, but it's really more of a cosmetic thing that I'm fine with.

Also, the dongles are super slim and fit easily in the bottom of those smaller hard travel cases for the deck, even with a small charging block and normal sized cable.

Like another commentor said, it's definitely more important to check out the video/power supply specs and all that, but you can get a solid one for $20-$40 now, easily.

Edit: Plus, I have a couple of those right angle connectors that came with my case so if I really wanted to hide the cable a bit more, those would help. After trying out a couple different cases and dongle/dock combinations, it's amazing the amount of extra stuff these companies throw your way. I have more joystick caps and dongle peripherals than I know what to do with lol

  • This is a really cool one you've posted. And at a good price point. I've shelled out much more for a really nice one for my laptop a few years ago. It's an anker 11 in 1 and cost somewhere around $80-$100 (USD) if I remember correctly. It has way more than I need but I liked the idea of being able to connect to Ethernet and either display port or HDMI with my laptop. I use this one for my steam deck, too.

A little while ago, I got an anker 6 in 1 for travel, and this is a lot cheaper, I think it was knocked down to $30 or so when I got it.

I like these ones because they are pretty durable and I have a preference for braided cables, but there are likely a lot of other great options around by now.

Edit: Also, I tried the docking stations and they were not really for me. I just use a dongle and have my deck propped up by a kickstand on its case. If you're looking to keep it propped up without a case, those docking stations may be more your speed.

  • Every so often, something makes me take a step back and just wonder how the fuck we got here. Like, really, him? He's a former president? That happened? What the actual fuck.

  • Real evidence for the claim that video games make cops violent.

    Edit: cops, not people.

  • Unironically, I have that ad saved under comedic commercials.

  • Took me a little parsing to decipher your meaning in the last sentence, but I agree with you. They should be referred to as a bunch of little piss babies.

  • Which, tbh, are already confusing for someone who hasn't been in the game for decades on end.

  • Dessau Wasser, to be specific ;)

  • I hate dead hands lol

Edit: especially when they don't even really work off of a wish or command from the deceased

  • I agree that the Funko Pop example cheapens their property. Doesn't seem that they care.

And of course it's not about just one wing truck. Estates like these are not innovating and are not holding air shows or wing competitions. And unless they're stealing trade secrets of making wing sauces or the intricacies of hosting aerial events, I say let the estate compete in those areas or even choose to sponsor these already established entities who've entered the market before the estate did anything with their IP.

  • I've also never understood things like this from a marketing perspective. Like this is definitely dissimilar, but even if it were an on the nose deal with like "Sauron Sauce" or whatever as one of their offerings, you're still getting recognition.

Even if the Tolkien estate were concerned about the cheapening of their "brand", who tf cares? It's obviously not about that, because I just checked and there is a line of LOTR Funko Pops for fuck's sake.

And if a work like The Lord of the Rings can't stand on its own (with regard to seriousness and artistic value) with the addition of kitschy wing trucks, I don't know what else would.

Seems like a win-win to me, but then again, I fucking hate trademarking and patenting laws in general. Intellectual property is a pretty spurious concept at best and courts around the world have consistently shown it is a tool used to quash innovation, promote stagnant wealth, and keep the heel on the middle and lower classes.

  • A friend recently recommended the Persona series, so I think I'm gonna have to go with Persona 5 Royal.

Something that made me happy this year (and gaming related) is that we finally got a remote Dungeons and Dragons group going with that friend, our significant others, and our mutual friend group. After a little hemming and hawing over how to set it up, we went with Foundry Virtual Tabletop (which we find suits our needs). It's good to be DMing for these friends and new faces again!

For a game recommendation/story, our tabletop group had been bandying around throwing in some one shots to try out some different systems and Warhammer 40k: Rogue Trader came up.

I'm pretty excited to test it out and recently found that Owlcat released a Rogue Trader crpg. I've been pretty busy near the end of the calendar year, so jumping into some science fantasy lore to share with my girlfriend has been great. I'll have to talk with the guy GMing that one shot about the similarities between the crpg and the tabletop system, but we're already brainstorming characters for the one shot and beyond (if we like it).

Hope this reply finds you all cozy and enjoying the season. This giveaway is a really cool idea and good luck everyone!

  • I'm talking about outspending on defense and offering settlements. It doesn't take much to exhaust a wage slave's capacity to keep a suit going, even pretrial.

There's a reason most cases settle before trial. The judicial system heavily incentivizes settlement and corporations can spend more on lawyers than their employees can.

The employee's lawyer is also gauging the cost benefit to their own time spent on the case, so the client/employee ends up getting shafted.

Of course, if there is a really egregious case, like you're envisioning, that can go farther down the road, but it's still an uphill battle for the plaintiff.

Edit: All this isn't even taking into account the fatigue plaintiffs go through, waiting for their cases to even get in front of a judge can take some serious time and then a trial can be even lengthier.

  • This is a distinction I had to explain thoroughly when communicating with people in state jobs. It's genuinely different. Mainly because of the added oversight.
