  • He was great at obstructing democrats, on everything but especially their supreme court nominees, and expediting the confirmation of their own, resulting in a partisan, conservative-aligned supreme court that does whatever they tell them, laws and constitution be damned.

In this, he was extremely successful and that's why his people keep voting for him.

  • I think you're confusing rooting with unlocking the bootloader. These most definitely have the bootloader unlocked, or at least, it had to be unlocked to replace the OS (sometimes it can be re-locked after), but they aren't necessarily rooted.

Bootloader unlocking is officially supported by many manufacturers (though your warranty is voided), and allows modifying the OS, which might be rooting, or completely replacing the OS (and the new OS might not be rooted).

Rooting, instead, just means becoming "root" (superuser, admin) on the device, which allows (almost) complete control over it.

  • Ok, what is divestos.org, and what is this page, and how does it relate to /e/OS? where does it say /e/OS apps have trackers (edit: see replies) has privacy issues, and what evidence are they showing? Not saying it isn't true, but what are we looking at?

  • Even having the money, most people that install solar panels, and don't do it just for idealistic reasons (fighting climate change, etc), expect to save more money than they spend in the long run. Well, depends of the specifics of course, but it might take years, even decades to recoup that initial expense. Even if you have the cash, it might not be worth it.

  • Not that I agree with much of "incel culture", so to say, but you're right about censorship. The whole idea of freedom of speech is that people should be free to express their thoughts even when we disagree with them.

As long as it doesn't become harassment or inciting violence... there are limits after all, but I do believe both the left and the right are pushing more and more censorship, they just disagree in what should be censored.

  • I think it's becoming a lost art ... but basically, you need to go by reputation. Pick well known sites that you trust, compare what they say about the subject, don't even base your opinion on just one random blog article or tweet / reddit / lemmy post.

For some, Wikipedia is trustworthy since it (usually) cites its sources and has a pretty good track record, while for others it's not to be trusted, cause anyone can edit it. In the end it's up to you what you trust. Another example: The CDC (in the US) can be considered trustworthy for health information, being an official government agency, but many also don't trust it as it has become more politicised and so, biased. Again, you decide what to trust, and always consult at least two trusted sources, more is better.

For product reviews, I simply don't pay much attention to the star rating, but instead, read the actual reviews, and sort them chronologically so I read the most recent ones. Check that they are actually reviewing the product / service you think they are, as there are ways to get good reviews then "switch" the product listing (amazon) and other similar tricks. Check if it seems plausible, level-headed, or if it's just someone being angry, or likely fake. Like I said, it's an art, not a science. Sometimes, you have to actually buy the product / service and judge for yourself, then compare your experience with the reviews, and you'll learn to tell the truthful reviews from the fake or unreliable.

  • Not sure if I understand your comment, or if it's sarcasm ... but did you forget you were once a kid? Were you a danger? Edit: instead of downvoting could you please explain what you mean? I truly don't understand the comment
