It's been 30 years and I still can't get over the fact that the French word for "potatoes" is "ground apples." Have The French never had an apple?

  • I just have a soft spot for Warcraft-style orcs. Something about their seemingly brutish nature and deep sense of honor. I also just like their visual style, be it the race, their fashion or architecture.

  • Like is a strong word I think. I don't mind him. But I was a kid when Phantom Menace came out, I didn't really fully experience the original trilogy before I saw it. So that's why - for a kid it's a fun goofy comic relief. So might have liked him back then, which moved my tolerance for him in adulthood. Didn't see the movie in years though.

    LotR is sacred to me on a similar level like the SW original trilogy was sacred to the die hard SW fans back then, probably. I can't say I hated the Hobbit movies (though they are clearly inferior - the edit really saved them), but I hate Alfrid with everlasting passion.

  • Depends on what you are looking for. I think Lemmy works great and I only really go to reddit when a google search leads me there for something. Though I do miss the niche communities and the "there is a subreddit for everything".

    Lemmy is also healthier, I used to just scroll through reddit for literal hours, it's possible to reach an end of sort for the time.

  • It can get really annoying but we need to remember that the upteenth repost of something probably leads to at least one person seeing it the first time.

    I also like some (especially meme) reposts because I enjoyed the post once already and I just enjoy to experience it again

  • My dog refuses to poop in our yard. Has no issues in any other, just not at home.

    Once, he had a diarhea and wanted outside. I was a couple of times in the span of couple of hours so I thought fuck it, I will use it - I let him out and thought when he can't hold anymore, he will let it out and I will try to make it a training excercise for him to see it's ok. Nope! Had to take him in the end because he was shaking in front of the fence gate, tail between legs, looking at me desperately.

    So I had to accept he would rather die than to let poop out in his yard.
