To be fair that could be a lot worse. I was expecting injected webpage content. I think this is acceptable and serves as a quick way to compare multiple sources. I dislike that it's Microsoft more than I do the actual "feature".
Actually it's absolutely realistic and fair. I don't like Musk, or Tesla for that matter. But they make it pretty damn clear that you're 100% responsible for the vehicle when using that feature. Anyone who assumes they don't need to pay attention is a moron and should be held responsible. If a 747 autopilot system starts telling the pilot to take control of the plane and they don't... we wouldn't blame the manufacturer, we'd blame the shitty pilot that didn't do their job.
The many instances and multiples of the same communities across all instances would absolutely be confusing to your average joe. But, once you start using Lemmy you realize understanding all that doesn't matter and it just works. As for the stability thing.... A fediverse of new communities based on open source software has growing pains? Gasp.... The article reads like that person is truly unaware of how software works in the beginning.
The music industry adapted for the internet. Film and TV will need to do the same if they want to reduce piracy to nothing like music. Naturally an all in one streaming service won't be cheap like music due to costs. But 50$ for a one stop shop video streaming service seems fair to me. 50$ split across multiple UIs feels like a rip. The music industry also made compromises on profits so greedy ol Hollywood can do the same. But let's be real, they try to make copyright a criminal offense through lobbying before that.
Because good journalism is expensive and the space is so much more competitive in the digital age. Also greed, usually it's greed preventing us from having good things.
Personally I was a Boost fan and I'm excited for its release for lemmy. But I'm using sync in the meantime and absolutely loving it. There's a smoothness to this app, a refinement if you will that I couldn't find on any of the other apps. The level of customization to make my feed my own.
It goes beyond Republicans. It's all the right leaning insecure macho men that struggle to prove their manhood. So, they result to trivial shit like dick size and fearing someone thinking they're gay. Losers.
The Lemmy userbase is so small by comparison to reddit. I don't like subscriptions or ads but my god man's gotta eat. People get butthurt way too easily over this stuff.
