  • I'm only speaking as a fellow moderator, but most people don't pay attention to the moderator lists (let alone check the mod queue or posting histories), so I wouldn't worry about discouraging users.

Every team does things differently. I'd recommend reaching out to your fellow mods to mention the need for support and how you plan to identify and engage candidates for the team. It could also be something as simple as "I think we need some help, are folks fine with me inviting a few others?". If you don't hear back from anyone after a few days or a week (depending on the urgency), you can probably just go ahead with inviting folks.

Depending on how active the community is, it's also always a good idea to have some kind of a chatroom setup for this kind of coordination. Matrix works nicely since it's already integrated into Lemmy as the secure messaging option - but you can also setup a team Telegram chat or Discord server (if you go for Discord, I recommend starting your own server and keeping it closed off to your team).

  • The idea of goat hating robots is frightening.

  • Similar but it shows the list for other instances, not just your home instance.

For example, if you're visiting a lemdro.id community from your lemmy.xylight.dev account you could click to see a list of communities on lemdro.id.

  • Thank you! @Xylight@lemmy.xylight.dev - not sure if this is something you can implement for Photon. Connect provides a very useful list of communities on an instance, making it easy to browse through and subscribe from.

  • Nice! AFAIK Connect is the only app with support for community lists for other instances. Do you have anything published on how you accomplished this? It'd be great if it could be built into the Lemmy-UI and Photon web clients (https://p.lemdro.id).

  • This post was made using the app. It's still a beta and wasn't the only app without posting functionality. Different developers take different approaches for their projects - this is a port of an existing Reddit app so the work required to make it all work is a little different.

  • Do you have any screenshots of your setup? Samsung builds in panel support but I always just disable it. I'm curious to see what real world use looks like.

  • Wonderful work! We'll update https://p.lemdro.id once the repo package is updated :).

Edit: We're live with version 0.7.2!

  • While true, I think a lot of the fun Android features have simply been turned into Pixel exclusives.

  • FOSS apps worth paying for, either through a premium option like FairEmail or donation, are also welcome 🙂.

  • I'm jealous of your root access! It has been awhile for me.

  • A lot of great stuff recommended here already. Ditto a lot of them but here are a few others I use:

    • Bitwarden Password Manager: been using this for years and recently decided to subscribe.
    • Hermit : Create lite web apps.
    • Repainter: Dynamic theming for Android 12+.
    • Wavelet: Custom headphone/earbud equalizer with AutoEQ database.
    • JuiceSSH: Great SSH interface.
    • Obtainium: Keep apps from GitHub updated.
    • Shizuku: Wireless ADB functionality.
    • Droid-ify: F-Droid client with support for Shizuku for automatic app updating without root.
    • Cryptomator: For encrypting cloud storage.
    • Groundwire: VoIP SIP softphone with push notifications.
    • SunSurveyor: Really great sun tracking for photography.
    • PhotoPills: Decent sun tracking but lots of other photography reference tools.
    • My Lightning Tracker & Alerts: Don't really need this but somehow enjoy tracking lightning during storms. The alerts can be useful for an early heads up.
  • Oh an actually decent-looking OBD2 app! I'm too cheap to fork over the money for the Bluetooth ECUTek dongle (I have the license and cable). I'll have to give this one a try.
