Well...Chevrolet does use patriotic imagery to sell (excluding their full-size vans and the Malibu) crappy cars, thus ripping people off. Their parent company, General Motors Corporation Company also did a sleight-of-hand trick that took all kinds of money from the American taxpayer we'll never see again. So that's a large contribution to our eventual default on the national debt, which will lead to an eventual overthrow of the government.

I should point out (even though I converted to a Ford guy) that it was Henry Ford who was awarded the Grand Cross of the German Eagle, the highest civilian honor bestowed by the Third Reich. He was a rabid anti-Semite.

On that note, everyone who, as a result of Elon Musk's takeover of Twitter, is dumping their Teslas for Volkswagen EVs is supporting a company started by the Third Reich that used Nazi concentration camp slave labor.

It's a cross-section of not of society but of the popular Lemmy instances' respective user bases. You could argue all day about merits of right-wing philosophies and policies and you'd still be heckled into oblivion for this reason.

There's a business phone switch owned by many of our customers for which licenses for file-based music-on-hold are no longer available from the manufacturer. An old iPod / Nomad / Zune / etc. fits the bill to connect to its built-in, no-additional-license-required music-on-hold audio port perfectly. It even comes with its own built-in UPS.

Virginia still has cheap areas and is a blue state thanks to the DC area and Hampton Roads, but the cheap areas suck and don't necessarily have broadband access or mobile coverage.

Michigan isn't a friendly place for taxes on middle-class families. Things have changed with the influx of people from neighboring blue states. For example, my hometown of Grand Rapids, which once had an average midwestern cost of living, is now no longer affordable:

• So-called affordable housing in Westside is around $2000/mo
• Rooms start around $800/mo, which is more than my mortgage payment an hour south in Kalamazoo
• Houses under $500,000 are plentiful, but you'll be a belligerent in a bidding war to get one. Furthermore, you won't be getting a palace at that price.

Also, if you are looking for somewhere temperate, you'll only have that here May through August.
