  • Ooh, ooh! Pick me! It’s because transportation is infinitely more societally useful than punching imprecise holes in things in one of the most dangerous ways accessible to most individuals! There are lots of reasons to ban or limit the use of cars in various public places, but those types of attacks are a reason to install and use bollards.

  • Also just for any kind of sales, honestly. I’m always surprised that regular customers at my bakery like being recognized, but they generally do. I was once in the Taco Bell drive through and the cashier asked me how I get my hair to grow so quickly (I grow it out until it’s long enough to donate, then chop it off and start anew), which implied a very long term recognition, so I stopped going to tb for a few months, because I hated the idea of being observed. I’m autistic and not especially social, though, so I can understand that I’m the outlier here.

  • Tbh, it’s not even a question in my mind about whether she’s worth the hassle. I’m not an especially patient person, and I grew up with very tolerant and well behaved dogs, so I had much the same thought before I adopted my cat, but she’s absolutely delightful. She’s sometimes picky, but she communicates pretty well to me, so what she’s thinking is not normally a mystery.

Coming home to her climbing all over me and aggressively nuzzling my face is one of my favorite things in life and it’s totally worth a little guesswork on her preferences. That obviously isn’t totally universal, but I didn’t consider myself a cat person before, so it might be true for you as well.

I decided to get a cat after hanging out with my sister’s friendly cats and realizing that I do love cats, as long as they’re not the shitty stereotype I had of a standoffish, hissing, scratching asshole.

  • I do this, and it’s still only like a 60% chance it’ll appeal to my cat in the moment. I just let it sit until she either eats it or it’s been 6+ hours (she’ll generally eat it within 1-2 hours, though). I use wet food pouches, and only put a little in the dish at a time, so it’s not a huge waste, but it’s annoying when she chooses a flavor and still doesn’t want it.

  • However, the fact-checking website Snopes said the image showed protests in Los Angeles following the death of George Floyd in May 2020.

The governor's office wrote on X on Friday: "HUGE DEVELOPMENT: An official Department of Defense account is spreading fake images—from old protests—to justify Trump's illegal militarization of Los Angeles. This isn't just disinformation. It's a propaganda campaign from the Pentagon."

This is the next paragraph, I think the “however” refers to the posting, not newsoms reaction to it. Ultimately, old pictures are real and their use is deceitful. Calling them fake is adequate in my book, but not entirely accurate.
