  • Oh my god. What if Skynet was never an accident of AI evolving outside its intended parameters? What if it was a hilariously obvious and preventable apocalypse caused by a tech bro tweeting in the middle of the night while on ketamine?

  • Thanks for that summary. I think the big gap in my understanding is that the PM doesn’t even have to be an elected official. They essentially always are, but not having that codified is a surprise.

In my nightmare scenario, the cons eke out a majority, toss Pierre, and name Elon Musk as PM is Canada.

  • Is this reporting true?

After maintaining frontrunner status throughout the two-month race, the former Bank of Canada and Bank of England governor will become this country’s next, and 24th prime minister within days.

How does an unelected banker walk into becoming Prime Minister? Doesn’t he need to be elected by Canadians first?

If true, that seems like a horrendous hole in the system.

  • Jordan Kealy of Peace River North and Tara Armstrong of Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream, both made the announcement on Facebook Friday evening.

The party has been a mess. Perhaps “not NDP” isn’t enough of a foundation for a party. Maybe we need some principled people to step out of it.

In his post, Kealy indicates interest in forming a "new party that respects Conservative values," but that he plans to represent his region "with or without a party."

Uh oh. I never like where the conversation is going when the word “values” starts getting slung around.

The NDP has sought to exploit that strategy through some of its motions, including one calling on MLAs to condemn U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff threats.

Five Conservative MLAs voted against the motion, including Brodie, Armstrong and Kealy.

Ohhhhh. Now I get it. The BC Conservatives aren’t conservative enough for this lot. And I naively thought they were leaning towards being less shitty.

  • Either it was an accident and wasn’t at fault at all. Or it was a coordinated stunt and Justin owns 50% of it, if other production people weren’t also in on it.

But Janet got shit on because she’s a woman and black and Justin somehow walked away unscathed for decades. Fucked up.

  • I can relate to that. One time my toddler said they didn’t want to try my pudding and I’ve been trying to destroy the world ever since.

I realize it’s a different toddler in my scenario.

  • If the penalty for the bread price fixing our shitty grocery corps did is any indication, even if it’s already illegal, landlords “breaking the law” will have to pay a fine of a couple dollars and be told they should feel very, very bad because they’ve been very naughty.
