  • I've been enjoying KDE Plasma, but do not have experience with any others so I could not really rank it. I went with KDE based on reading that it was at the forefront when it came to HDR support, and I could also get Wallpaper Engine working with it.

  • I've never regretted a GTA purchase (admittedly I didn't get the remasters so that might be why...) so I'm cautiously looking forward to this one. Started up 5 again recently with the Enhanced version dropping on PC and man its still stupid fun.

  • It's a myth perpetuated by people who don't know better. By all means, putting sugar in a gas tank is not advised because, well, sugar doesn't belong in there. But it will not ruin the engine. If it even reaches the engine, you have a pretty bad fuel filter.

  • Tried to install Mint on my laptop, wouldn't work. Googled the issue, had to rename a file in the boot directory for some reason.

Tried again, wouldn't work. Googled issue, had to turn off secure boot in bios.

Tried again, installed, okay now we're cooking. Connected to WiFi, updated packages and drivers. All good, reboot. Install Steam. Login via QR code, it begins loading user data.

Loading... Loading.. Loading.. Okay it's clearly stuck. How do I kill a process on Linux? Google it, okay that's not too hard. Try launching Steam again, same thing. Google this issue, get a lot of different potential causes, involving delving into some obscure directories.

I consider myself technologically competent, more so than the average person/consumer. I am a lot of people in my social sphere's "computer guy". Way more than most people are not going to figure this stuff out for themselves.

I'm really sorry to say but Linux is still not ready for mainstream consumers and users if this is the experience of the most recommended stable distro for the average person.

  • You have first hand knowledge of what happened there to make it ironic. Judging by other comments, it seems like (at least for now) the photo alone, without context, isn't very ironic. It really is your context that makes it ironic. You should add the context to the original post!

  • How can you possibly know who was driving the car? Furthermore, even if the red van wasn't being driven by a learner, how can you know the events that led to this weren't caused by a different car driven by a learner?

  • That's not ironic. That's not ironic at all. Of all the places I'd expect a collision to occur, I'd be least surprised to find out one occurred near a driving instructor. The people needing a driving instructor generally aren't good at driving.

Edited to add: OP has added context to the situation here, https://sh.itjust.works/comment/18347533
