I think you're missing that lemmy is a pretty tiny slice of the internet and niche(ish) communities either don't exist or are mostly inactive. Just because something doesn't seem to be making waves on lemmy, doesn't mean it isn't popular. The community for it just isn't really here (yet).

I installed Linux mint on my laptop the other day because of various sustained long term annoyances with Windows. Despite some minor hiccups it only took about 30 minutes. It's been such a great experience so far.

I tip and tip well when I patronize these businesses. You seem to defend the business owners while placing all the blame on this fictional group of people that are gleefully "fucking over wait staff." Also your tone is really hostile and confrontational.

You're assuming that it's my responsibility to directly pay these people's wages. I do but it's a dumb argument that I disagree with. "let the businesses close and new ones open with better practices" is tantamount to saying "let these people find better jobs that don't rely on tips to make a somewhat livable wage."

I get what you're saying and I still begrudgingly tip every time unless the service is terrible which is rare. But if people boycott these businesses instead of going and not tipping wouldn't that be just as bad if not worse for service workers than not tipping at all?

For example, if 80 percent of the people who regularly patronize restaurants stopped going, wouldn't a lot of these businesses close resulting in these people losing their jobs entirely? It's not a likely scenario but it's an interesting thought experiment.

About 90 percent of my nostalgia is reserved for Halo. GD I miss those days.

If you live near a Costco you can get socks and underwear relatively cheap. I think the last time I bought a six pack of boxer briefs it was like 10-12 bucks

My wife and I had to have her 2013 Nissan rogue transmission replaced last year which cost $7k, so I disagree on your point about reliability. -___-

In all seriousness though, I always had the impression that Nissan was known for being the least reliable of the big 3: Toyota, Nissan, Honda

There probably are local regulations that make this technically illegal but these aren't generally enforced on such high profile operations like a neighborhood lemonade stand run by a 10 year old.

Does this pretty much imply that if it looks shady and stays in business, but the food is shite, then then business is a front for money laundering or other criminal activities? Because there is this absolutely trash Mexican place near where I live and it's always dead (no business) and the food is suspiciously bad like "the refried beans are dry and look like they've been sitting out for days" kind of bad. And this place has been "in business" for like 15 years.

The article only mentions Christian groups in France and Egypt tho so not just American evangelicals.

Where I am I can consistently get bogos that make the premium frozen pizza brands about $5 per pizza. There are also cheaper store brands that are $3-4. Definitely cheaper than dominos/Papa John's. Especially since they've raised there prices considerably in recent years as well as stopped offering the kinds of deep discount specials and deals they used to offer.
