I don't see why anyone would rather pirate a Switch game than using a PC crack, especially for Fez and and Stardew Valley which both have GOG versions.

Oh, sure, I think that tweak is only on the EmuDeck settings for SMG. That doesn't help much with performance, unfortunately.

Except for Mario Strikers, all those games have PC ports that run really well on the Deck. What's the advantage of running them on a Switch emulator?

The configuration needs to be adapted a bit otherwise the game is a pain to play, like having the pointer accelerometer constantly active. What kinds of tinkering are you talking about?

Thank you for the list! I've been wanting to try out Metroid Dread, it seems really fun and fitting for the Deck.

Did you encounter any issues playing Super Mario Galaxy on Dolphin? I expected it to work well enough, but every session longer than 30min would make the game stutter heavily (audio was noticeable first, but soon everything was stuttering, including inputs which made the game unplayable), and I had to reboot the game or the Deck for it to work properly again. I don't know if that's an issue with the Deck, Dolphin, the game or my config (not that it is anything special) but I've been holding off more recent emulation because of that.

You're right! I missed it but they updated to 0.18.2 yesterday (announcement post).

This seems to fix it only temporarily, I feel like I've logged out and re-logged in my lemmy.world account every day since Monday.

• If you only want back buttons, the Xbox Elite controller has them. For some reason, it doesn't have other features many other controllers have, like gyro or touchpads, while being more expensive than many, even in its Core version. I think paying 50-60€ for 4 back buttons and a slightly higher quality controller is too much, and I wouldn't go that way.
• The XIM Nexus also has 4 back buttons, gyro, and is apparently able to convert gyro movements to the right joystick, so it also works on Xbox. However, it's even more expensive than the Xbox Elite Core, and seems to be sold out in many places.
• The 8bitdo Ultimate has only 2 back buttons but also has gyro controls, and is not overpriced. I've read, however, that the gyro can be flimsy. There's also a Switch layout version, sold with an adapter.

I would love Steam to release a Steam Controller v2 with a Deck layout (although that would make for a big controller), I'm just not sure the Steam Controller v1 sold well enough on its own to justify that.

Not to mention that we didn’t even know if our recycling was even recycled. We used to ship it to countries in Asia, burning bunker oil all the way there, and whatever happened to it happened. Out of sight, out of mind, and likely not recycled.

I don't really understand how that would work. I'm on Instagram because I follow some specific artists, collectives, companies, labels, etc., and secondarily for friends. If those are not on Pixelfed, what is there to follow?

Although Lemmy suffers of quite a content draught on less populated communities, it still works like Reddit since you follow topics, not people.

It's not really a remaster, it's an open-source re-implementation. But I guess it could be used as a base for a remaster

On a personal level, it can also help make your job more interesting by automating tedious tasks, freeing up more space to do actually useful stufd.
