In The Netherlands you can get an X in your passport if you identify as non-binary / 3rd gender person. Nobody knows how border security will treat you if you don't have an F or M in your passport, guess aren't many people willing to go find out either. Really wonder how this is gonna go in the following years when US hosts important diplomatic/technological/sports events. Also some scientists are calling out to boycott scientific conventions in support of lgbtqi+ persons.
I think since the introduction of euro and Schengen the percentage of eu-citizens who never been outside their country has dropped close to zero. Also think the percentage of eu-citizens who has never left eu is smaller than us-citizens leaving the us is. States are big yes, but the difference between states is smaller which means it makes less sense to travel 'abroad'.
No matter how much I dislike Musk, I don't think he's giving that much choice. Erdogan is a dictator who has the power to block X altogether. A real free speech advocate would not succcumb to the pressure of a repressive government, but the article does imply Musk is not the initiator of these bans:
"Musk himself said that "the choice is have Twitter throttled in its entirety or limit access to some tweets." He said X would publicly post the Turkish government's requests."
What if the plot isn't about locking up the opposition leader, but about luring out his most vocal supporters? It is much easier to keep anonymous civilians in jail, as opposed to the leader of a movement. I feel like just locking up Imoglu is just too stupid a move to make.
Sometimes now before i finished reading the headline I assume it must be from the onion or some other satire source, and until a second later i see it is just real news. The world got so unpredictable lately.
So many comments about them starting a new political party and I don't want to disagree but if democrats already have less votes than republicans now, wouldn't that make it even harder to win an election?
I want the EU to support the protesters, but I can also see this validating Vucics rhetoric of there being a 'hostile takeover' organised by foreign powers.
That'd be true if both parties would actually want what they say they want, not if either party is untrustworthy and has a record of breaking agreements.
