Yeah I've deleted Facebook and affiliated products since 2017.
Google social never made sense to me but even just for content YouTube does a terrible job showing me what I want to see.
Tiktok had honed in on things I found funny or interesting within an hour of picking it up. And I'm not talking mainstream sports or TV type content, I'm talking niche sub communities and creators with less than 1k followers.
Idk how they're doing it (besides the obvious data collection) but they've got a well tuned algo.
That article neither supports nor denies your claim: it just says parasites have evolved resistance to what was previously used against them.
The major issue there is with the anti parasite treatment: that is what is killing herring.
Parasites do not magically appear from nowhere. They are species which have co-evolved with their hosts for millennium. These fish parasites are extremely common across the entire ocean. Farms just provide a place for large groups of fish to get infected.
All of which is to say that parasites in fish are common in wild fish which are never near farms.
They love tiktok because the algorithm works extremely well.
No other social media actually targets you as well as tiktok does. Instagram is constantly trying to shove you in the direction of whatever makes them the most money even if it's entirely unrelated to your interests. YouTube is clueless to what you like with shorts. Tiktok surfaces new content that is basically unseen anywhere else (thousands of views not millions) that perfectly fits your interests.
Could other platforms do the same thing? Probably: but they're too short sighted to do so.
The fact that DMCA requests don't have to be signed with an asymmetric key that lets you validate the company that sent it was actually behind the request is some of the dumbest shit.
We've known how to use certs online forever. Certainly well before the DMCA. Why the fuck wasn't that a provision?
Oh right because our politicians are tech illiterate apes.
Hope it turns out ok. Usually printing tall narrow things in that orientation results in wobble and uneven layers at the top, if it finishes at all.
If it fails try printing with 1 side touching the bed or at a 45° angle with supports along the bottom. You'll have to sand down the supported surface but it should at least complete!
That's because in the real world we're all fighting to escape the threat of homelessness and starvation which is a constant spectre haunting any "techie" who is paying attention enough to see what's going on.
Personally speaking: when me and mine are safe I'll be dedicating 100% of my remaining life to outreach, teaching and non-profit work.
But as long as you're dependant on another man to feed you every week you're not safe: you're helpless. That's true regardless of if that man is a non-profit or if it's a megacorp.
We can discuss if a corporation deserves to exist but granted that it does: it is implicitly reasonable that it deserves to maintain its premises and staffing in a way that is conducive to business.
Now if you want to talk about corporate structures and the dissolution of capitalist enterprise that's a different story.
But in today's world and with today's rules it is entirely reasonable.
There's probably some way to manipulate PulseAudio to do this as well? But the Pulsemeeter option Is probably your best bet even if the repo hasn't been touched in 2 years.
Aka if you void your warranty and crack your phone OS - something that Apple fights at every turn. If you run your phone in unsafe and unfriendly ways then you can do something Android supports natively by default.
I admire their principled stand. They had to know it would cost them their jobs but chose to do it anyway.
Their firing isn't a surprise and is fully reasonable by the company. I hope they get great jobs elsewhere, where their morals will be appreciated... But there are very few workplaces that give a damn about morals.
They're on the same team in the same way you're on the same team with a stranger when there are 6 ravenous wolves circling your dwindling torch light.
Is that stranger a fascist? Will they stab you in the back? Who knows: but it's better to have a back to press yours to than it is to have 3 unwatched wolves behind you.
Coalition forming is our only option as progressives.
