  • Well you're no fun šŸ˜ . I get it though, I saw a userscript the other day that could add it to your interface.

  • I turned off downvotes and no karma in lemmy is nice. It's overall a friendlier experience IMO.

  • This is quickly becoming my favorite community lol.

  • Thank you for all the github issue and feature requests. You all help me see things and have ideas I wouldn't of been able to. If no more major bugs come up this will be the last for a few days while I start working on additional new features.

  • But was that also spurred at least in part often times for the pursuit of profit? I don't disagree, you have a good point!

  • Some of my friends think I'm an idealist but I'd argue that's the point. I vote for whatever would allow us to get to the Star Trek: TNG version of earth. A Post Scarcity society where humans want to better themselves and their communities through each individuals pursuit of their interests unrestricted by any "system". To get there, I care about improving the lives of the entirety of humanity equally while doing away with the disparity inequality we see. It is undoubtedly true capitalism did raise the average QOL of many many people of the entire world, however, others it put into modern slavery.

  • Nazi leemings.... Go fuck yourself!

  • Yeah Ansible I had to set the path variable and did the ssh key generation. Other than that my lemmy was up and running in like 10 minutes all automated. You can go back and change the config by rebuilding the yaml. It's not bad at all.

  • Install wsl for windows Ubuntu default.(can install wsl in PowerShell).

Install Ansible in wsl, create ssh keys to your VPS, follow those instructions.

On my Ubuntu server I did literally nothing but the ssh key generation.

  • That's normal... Next patient!

  • Yup, I had the same question and was frustrated I was missing so many comments from instances that were federating. Just leave allowed blank and then block the bad ones unless your really concerned about bad instance actors.

    • 1 vCPU 2.9ghz
    • 1 GB DDR4 Memory
    • 25 GB NVMe/SSD Storage

5~ USD a month. Working great for personal use and I'd imagine a handful of users. Hosted in a data center that is very close to me.

Also fwiw: 4 days of lemmy. I am subbed to a bunch of stuff. I've only uploaded like three pictures to my instance... All that space is thumbnails from other instances.

    692M ./postgres
    8.0K ./lemmy-ui
    499M ./pictrs
    1.2G .
    1.2G total

  • My lead pipe hurts...

  • No good! It's full of steam!
