  • Right. Killing thousands of civilians just to resolve a conflict that was escalated for some reason from both sides.

There's only one noble side to be on in this, and that's the side of civilians and humanitarians.

If you're ever on the side of someone who is killing civilians, your brain made a left turn somewhere and your side is probably just as valid as the extremists on the other side.

Think about it. The only thing separating you from being the same monster you accuse those other ppl to be is being born on a different clump of earth.

  • As a music producer, you notice 192k MP3. The next jumps you probably don't notice. I'm still a flac snob because I have to work a lot with original quality files, but for the average users there's probably not even a difference between MP3 192k+ and flac or wav or opus or whatever.

  • That's the difference between self defense and an eye for an eye.

If they punch you and you break their arm and run away, that's a slam dunk case of self defense.

If they punch you and you kill their mother, well...

Unfortunately considering the long history of the conflict and the obscene hostility on both fronts (they probably have good reasons to be fair), the second scenario seems more likely and that concerns me. And I don't think the result of this helps anyone.

  • Some interesting wrinkles:

Everything that he outlines per this article is literally just enforcement of the rules. The jury is not to be prejudiced or intimidated, which should be obvious, and therefore these limits are already in place.

The only thing he asks for is to enforce these more strictly, and considering all the comments Trump already made, that's not far fetched. No one here is thinking he is "taking off the gloves", this is just a very self-service view.

Also interesting: Jack Smith used to be impartial when he investigated the events surrounding this case. Considering he's moving forward with the case and a lot of confidence in public, I can only imagine the types of evidence he has seen and marked for discovery.

  • Yeah I'm gonna give the summary of the most important comments on this:

    • Unity is untrustworthy
    • they pulled this shit knowing it would fall flat
    • the CEO got his position when he was already known to be a prick
    • shady insider trading is shady
    • the board who chose or approved the CEO is still the same
    • there's solid alternatives

These are all the reasons why you shouldn't go back to Unity. That said, I'm very sorry for the Devs of Unity who most definitely don't deserve this.

  • I mean I am the first one to say that no one should be doxxed, but in every case you can ask the judge to conceal specific information out of public filings if it's either more prejudicial than probative, or if it's deemed too high of a risk to cause issues.

TLDR he could have redacted through court process. This sounds to me like a complaint that DOA.

  • That's the wrong person to speak on this subject lol.

Or let's say, it's easy for him to speak about this when he got his Turks in a row and his Kurds in a basement.

I'll listen to him when he starts respecting the Kurds.

  • I wanna add to this that censoring is a bit more relaxed. Every post lies on an instance, and control is given to hosts of an instance. So to censor, an actor has to gain control of the instance or the account that made the post.

That said, if you are in the confines of political oppression, as the commenter above me said, never take your anonymity for granted and take active steps to stay safe.

  • "to the people actively using electricity to kill their civilians"

Right. So you're telling me they have data analysts that can precisely tell which buildings are occupied by hamas and which are occupied by civilians. You know, intel that would be worth a fortune for them considering that's kinda their enemy and it would be an incredible chance to get rid of them once and for all. Notwithstanding the fact that they'd have to have the ability to individually toggle electricity for every building, which, I have a feeling, does not in fact work that way.

  • Idk if this is a hot take, but imo the war in Ukraine is pretty clear city while the Palestinian and Israeli conflict his an infinite list of wrinkles and nuances.

It's far less controversial to say the former is Russia's fault than it is to say the latter is either Palestine's or Israel's fault.

  • To me this makes perfect sense.

He realizes the GOP is scattered rn and he tries to jump on a new train of identity in the hopes his views are strong enough to rally GOP voters behind his movement. It's just an opportunity to get into a leading role.

Attacking Trump also further consolidates his ideals and puts more pressure on Trump in the hopes he'll just cave and take the dissenting voices in the party with him.
