  • Sure, I mean technically paypal was a rather innovative idea for its time, but again, the guy basically associated himself with smart people that had bright ideas.

Yes, he does have a knack for growing businesses to a larger scale, but most millionaires/ billionaires do, cause they outsource brain matter and decision making to a select few.

I’m not sure if I ever liked the guy or his largely exaggerated marketing, but being a POS nazi isn’t helping either, so i’m biased towards nazi hate I guess. Either way, he will need a paradigm shift for people to accept him back into the decent human beings club. I do hope he will find a way, but doubt it really.

  • I’m sorry, but credit for what? For being born privileged and buying talent? If you can’t beat ‘em, buy ‘em, right?

Yeah, I guess he deserves praise for being a good liar and basically selling pipe dreams?

  • I had to go iOS because of… reasons, but you can sideload modded youtube app, with sponsorblock. exactly as on android, but with many headaches like token expiry every week and other bullshit issues like google not allowing IPAs directly in github repos.

Lame, but it can be done.

  • don’t get me wrong. it’s definitely on my top 2 , however getting timely android updates is nice and the improvements are nice to have. You don’t really need them and given current ai centered updates, I can’t say they are that meaningful anymore, however pixels have android 15 and will be getting 16 soon, with that whole DeX thingy, while fairphone is releasing statement about how they will skip 14, so their flagship is still on 13… Not great.

  • That is true, given everyone uses good quality nvmes, which is not always the case, but honestly, 1Gbps fiber is enough for a home with multiple users. Even if, assuming the storage is not the bottleneck, unless you need often very large lan transfers, should be more enough with 1Gbps.

Anyway, I guess i’m sidestepping the initial topic. bottom line: cool cheap tech for companies, not so much for home users.

  • I’ve never watched any of his videos. They just don’t appeal to me and never have. However, given his apparent fame, it’s good for linux.

The more people acknowledge linux’s existence, the more engagement, the more growth.

Here’s hoping someday Windows will be a nasty memory.

  • don’t forget the rudeness of some people. they behave like the whole building is a hotel and they can do whatever they damn well please.

If it were up to me, I would obliterate this concept. Hotels are for holidays, not people’s houses where everyone brings along their holiday brains and are being generally disrespectful towards the communities.

  • Wifi? imagine trying to get pci modems working and basically compiling your kernel each time you’d need an obscure driver. usb didn’t even exist and external ones were both expensive af and running on serial ports.

good times honestly. I learned so much about linux.
