  • It's been a while since I last used solus and I used to enjoy it before permanently switching to arch. Will have to spin up a qemu VM to test out 4.4. I hope to see good things and who knows,I might readopt it.

  • Those are a lot of wrong assumptions you made there.

I for one used at least 2 or 3 Samsung devices in the past and they all felt bloated, down to the fact that Samsung had both gdrive and one drive as system apps, plus their own Samsung services bloated straight into Android.

Now really, who wouldn't call that bloat?

  • I can't stand reskins on android. Launcher you can change, but system not, without bootloader unlocks at least. The bloat is real and a bitch to get rid of and even if you adb it,you still have the overall android reskin.

Why do these companies feel the need to bloat android to such extent is beyond me.

  • I've been using ext4/btrfs for a long time, but recently I decided to give xfs a try and it feels pretty solid all rounder fs.

I know it's a very old and very well supported fs,developed by Silicon Graphics and has been getting constant improvements over time with various performance improvements andchecksuming. TBH,for my use casesanything would work but BTRFS snapshots were killing my storage and I got bored with the maintenance task.

Archwiki has amazing documentation for all FS,so might be worth a look.
