  • Can you explain the need for hysteria?

No, because if hysteria would be an appropriate response it wouldn't be hysteria. The good news is: no one is calling for hysteria, there's just a recommendation to wear masks.

  • You're making a false argument, hence the downvotes. HenryVolney isn't disagreeing with posting more non-US news, they are saying that reminders to not post every US news here can also be valuable.

  • Your average movie goer isn’t capable of telling from a trailer if a movie is going to be garbage or not.

Of course not. A trailer is just an ad. That's like expecting to be able to tell if a smartwatch is good after watching an ad.

So a possible solution could be professional/expert reviews. We need to be able to trust them though (no bought reviews etc.) and they shouldn't be snobbish against pure entertainment movies. Unfortunately this will only work if people actively seek out those reviews (at least I can't think of a way to actively push the reviews to the consumers), which does not work as long as movies are consumed in order to not think. Which they will be as long as they are as shitty and brainless as many are right now.

  • Programming can be really rewarding and creative. It can also be really, really frustrating, because it might take ages to fix a problem just because some tiny detail went wrong. That might be a problem if you're struggling with motivation and confidence.

  • The ship is expected to keep burning for weeks.

Actually, it might also sink and release up to 2,000 tons of heavy fuel oil (plus molten plastic, metals etc.) to the Wadden Sea which is on the UNESCO World Heritage List as an important biosphere reserve.

  • TagPro - minimalist graphics, straightforward gameplay and an insanely high skill ceiling. So good it was banned from AskTheBadWebsite because it was always the top answer for every question regarding good webgames etc.

  • Listening to music helps me too. Recently I noticed that "sad" music seems to work especially well - something slow, not too intrusive, like Wolfsheim, Deine Lakaien, Anne Clark, ... While I listen it allows me to actually experience my emotions, and when I eventually turn off this music it also helps me to "snap out of it" and focus on the next steps in my life (which may just be cleaning the dishes or going for a run).
