  • Certainly not automobile safety. This has nothing to do with technology, as in development, but is tangentially relevant being that Tesla positions itself as a technology company.

I don't see any posts here about all the other ev car companies. Technology can be technically be any progress or development, but I also don't expect to see tech posts about gradual iterations or improvements in the touchscreen operation of a lawnmower.

People come here to find out about new tech and the development of it. This is musk spam.

  • I interpreted differently. I assumed the thread was on blahaj but was not a meta thread about blahaj. However, you're probably right.

If they were on another instance and just had a disagreement with a blahaj user about the term, then I'd say that's over moderation to block them unless they were being abusive, or a dick about it.

I could also see how a mod could block him as a user and accidentally block him from the instance if it was a year ago as mod tools weren't great. Although I don't use them.

However, as you say, depending on what the comments were, it could be the blahaj user was the one being the dick here.

  • It may not be a gendered term for you, but it is for some. Standing your ground means being asked to stop by people who found it offensive, likely by feeling misgendered. I'm not surprised you were banned when you go to what's meant to be a safe space and misgender people despite being asked to stop.

That's kind of the point of federation, though. They can have their space with their rules of moderation and language. Someone else can have a more open experience. Those that want a more complete experience but push their values on other instances will be banned from those instances. Blahaj has great content, but it's often niche, and can be a little too moderated sometimes, but better to err on side of caution when many of the community have less ptions for where they jump to.

  • You’re missing the point. As digital exists, there is no supply issue. That’s solved. So there is no disc capacity or supply issue, as a result of that. Preordering is taking on their risk, not mitigating yours. Your risk of not purchasing is exceedingly low.

  • Part of the point is to lie so blatantly to let you know they control you and there is nothing you can do about it. Part of it is plausible deniability. Part of it is unending propaganda. Part of it is to lose trust in news sources.

  • No, there is a finite amount, agreed. However, the cost of making and shipping is minimal in the overall production cost. If no they need 100, shipping 120 is easy. Any excess can be used for following weeks and months sales. The gamer doesn’t want to miss out, but the company is much more likely to take active steps to ensure they don’t miss out on a sale. In the age of digital, even if they did sell out, it can still be pirchaesed online. So, it is high risk, low reward to preorder.

So, while missing out on day one is possible, it’s extremely unlikely and so preordering is basically a free loan and handing over money before there is a chance to assess quality.
