  • Previously, they would uphold agreements from a previous administration. Trump doesn’t even uphold agreements from his own previous administration. If you can’t trust agreements, you stop making them and use other forms of diplomacy, which are less diplomatic. China will be under big pressure of their growth stalls. USA will be under pressure of their growth stalls due to trump. Wars are a time honoured distraction.

  • With old games, it was a case of the quality of processing and speed of processing on consumer grade devices. Look at Toy Story, released in the 90s. It looks dated and less well animated than a current video game. Each frame took hours to process and a current video game does it on the fly.

Analogue sound can and has been recorded for many decades. The mp3 codec existed in the 90s as did other formats. Recording high quality video and sound was very doable. Mixing was less easy than now, but still possible. Images could also be stored lossless. Video was broadcast at low definition. Many of the recording were only made in that low definition format. That’s why old video looks dated. Some were recorded in better quality for the dvd or bluray market. They appear better.

  • The point is that under offering users the ability to have all network requests altered is not secure. The user needs to authorize it and there are valid reasons to do so, but there are also bad actors, that will misuse that. I am pretty security conscious, but I can't tell you which extensions have which permissions on which devices I use, between Firefox, chrome, safari on windows 10,11, android, iOS and opensuse. Placing all the responsibility on the user just removes it from where it should be, which is privacy focused code.

  • It depends on whether they can control the military. If so, they need them for when people don’t comply. However, the military has many, many people, so it comes down to having to buy compliance against the national interest which can be more expensive.

  • No, but the person you responded to didn't specify. They just said what group of people would use these. Those who cant safely operate a knife. That includes children. I'm not saying it's made up exclusively of children.

You're mistakingly assuming that because it was made for a sunset that ist not designed for the larger group. It's designed for the subset, which forms part of a larger group. It's still, then, for that group, especially for the subset.

  • Lol, none of this is a surprise or new. Leopards and face eating was planned and expected. The majority of the US voted or abstained for him. This is the outcome. This is what they implicitly wanted. If what they voted for is different to what they thought, they haven't been duped. The information was available. They have been wantonly ignorant. That's not to say we should blame voters. That's to say, hopefully people become more informed and accept that when Republicans allow the deplorable a to take over, this is what happens. When democrats try to take the high ground but don't prosecute insurrection and treason and fix the supreme court, this is what happens.

History teaches us these patterns. It is why they are trying so hard to erase and rewrite history.

  • As in, their connections rather than just simple trips? Why is that necessary for buses and not for cars?

Remember our whole transport network and all others worldwide used to be plan services prior to centralised tracking. Most would think services have worsened, not improved despite increasing population density and worse car traffic making public transport more attractive.

So, the tracking they already do doesn't seem to be improving service. However, that's subjective.

  • They could quite easily do this with a driver manually counting on and off passengers. It wouldn’t need to be accurate, they could ballpark any numbers above 5. It could also be done with surveys are stops or on board, or with security camera footage. All without the infrastructure need. We also seem to be able to plan roads and spend even more than in public transport, without any need for registering trips.
