• Waking up via lights slowly dimming on is much nicer than an acoustic alarm.
• Light temperature adjusting to current time of day is very nice and does loads for my mood
• Lights automatically turning on and off based on presence and measured light levels is totally unnecessary but just so convenient
• Getting a reminder to take the wash out when the machine is done
• Smart plug automatically turns off power to other devices when the TV is turned off

Somehow, nobody here is talking about that "cis mate" is accidentally too restrictive, if it's about genital preference. Saying "I want a cis mate" is going to exclude non-binary people that would actually be perfectly compatible with your genital preference and present close enough to the gender you're attracted to. For many years, we’ve had software that can generate lists of valid conclusions that can be drawn from a set of starting assumptions. Simple geometry problems can be solved by “brute force”: mechanically listing every possible fact that can be inferred from the given assumption, then listing every possible inference from those facts, and so on until you reach the desired conclusion.

Ftfy. Using any medium as the exclusive location of your data without any backup is a stupid idea, but if you're gonna be that careless, using Google Drive is one of the less stupid options out there. The chance that google fucks up in an irrecoverable way is infinitely lower than you fucking your local storage up or your house burning down.

Privacy is another factor to this of course, but if we're just looking at the security of your data, using only Google is way better than using only your self hosted solution.

Is Canonical actually doing that, though? Collecting data for product improvement purposes and collecting it to potentially sell to third parties are two wildly different things, and doing the former, even with the user's consent, does not mean you automatically reserve the right to do the latter (or anything else, really) with the collected data, unless you explicitly already include that as an option and get consent for it as well. I haven't looked into it myself, so I might be wrong here, but I'm guessing Canonical would be getting way more shit for this if they were actually reserving the right to outright sell the telemetry they're collecting, rather than just use it for product planning and development.

I guess not allowing the current default browser to be uninstalled while there is no other program available that can be made the default browser would be a simple and viable solution here.

!Later on, it turns out that the sun station is actually not the reason, as it just didn't work as the Nomai planned. The sun is actually going supernova because the universe is dying as a whole, as you can actually see all around you, with loads of supernovae going off in the sky. Now sadly, there's no explanation given for why that is happening much earlier than everyone expected, iirc. I guess that's a final mystery that's indeed left unanswered.!<

Well, a big part of the game is figuring out why that's happening, by exploring the system and piecing together its past. The game certainly doesn't hold your hand in that, but it's fair in letting you discover it on your own. I get that this kind of mystery might just not be for everyone, though.

For those not willing to give up on convenience, on Android, there's Lockdown mode, which will temporarily disable access via biometrics and force the use of your PIN/password to get into your device. Not sure about other brands, but on Pixel, you can enable it by long-pressing the power button and tapping on "Lockdown".

Not if the site is actually GDPR compliant they are not. You are only allowed to set tracking cookies after consent has been obtained, which cannot be assumed before the visitor has made a choice.

At least in the wepapp, this works fine for me, I imported my previous Google calendar no problem and am also subscribed to my girlfriend's calendar.

I imported my passwords from 1Password and that worked flawlessly. Can't speak to other password managers.

You're basically working off a browser extension because you can't do them on the webpage and they don't have clients.

This is hopefully gonna be fixed soon, a standalone proton pass app for desktop is in the works according to their public communication :)
