  • Oh I completely agree with you. But the comments against it are ridiculous.

For decades, young people lived with roommates yet this is completely ignored. I grew up with roommates. My parents did too. So did their parents. But reading these comments makes it sound like the expectation is to turn 18 and be handed the keys to a 1 BR in a nice area.

Just ridiculous. And every single topic in this site is the same.

  • Responses to this comment are why intelligent discussion around this and many topics like it are worthless to have on Lemmy. There is an echo chamber here way larger and more insular than there ever was on Reddit.

The Lemmy hive mind is of a single perspective. It is best to ignore discussion around serious topics on this site, unfortunately.

  • Zealot? Fuck no. I simply view both sides objectively and make up my own mind.

I determine my view point based on all available information.

Additionally, you know how I know you are completely propagandized? You will not say a single negative thing about Israel. Prove me wrong. Say Israel bombing hospitals is wrong.

    You won’t.

I acknowledge both sides are committing atrocities and war crimes. Will you?

  • See, I knew it wouldn't be too long before you squealed genocide

Because you can see, as plainly as everyone else, that genocide is what is happening.

Bombing hospitals, telling civilians where to safely move and then bombing that area, taking generational homes because of “reasons”. Israel is committing genocide.

I love jewish people. I think they are awesome. Israel is evil.

These are not two desperate thoughts.

Additionally, Hamas is evil. And deserves to be stopped, but not by bombing innocent people or bombing hospitals. ZERO civilian lives are worth ending to kill any number of terrorists.

  • Agreed. I’d love for Israelis to stop the hate. They are some of the biggest racists on the planet, see violent settlers encouraged by their own government.

Let’s treat Palestinians with respect. Let’s treat Jewish people around the world with respect. Let’s also give Israel’s government the respect it deserves, similar to the respect we give to apartheid South Africa or the Nazi regime.

  • This is a great idea but it requires effort and if I were to mine 10billion bitcoin very early, that may change the future of bitcoin such that it never hits 30k+ value per. It seems safer to simply buy 1000 of them at a $0.10 to resale at 10k+.

My plan is minimal effort, minimal impact to anyone that isn’t me, and to get all the money I could ever need.

  • Give me 2-3k per month for 18 years plus cost of living increase at 5%+ per year and I’ll consider it.

Otherwise, nah. Im good. I enjoy my free time and all the extra money I have due to no kids.

  • This comment and my other in the thread are gonna get a ton of downvotes, so I’m just going to own it.

Also, this is entirely from my experience with republicans in real life. I am not one, but many of my family and friends are.

First, most are not anti-LGBT at all. Most that I know are against these laws that are being out into place. But these issues are not very important to them so they don’t have strong convictions that would dissuade them from voting based on this issue. They will not engage if you call them anti-LGBT because they are not.

Second, contempt for atheist. This is a perspective that comes from the online and media representation of republicans. I’ve never heard a single discussion about atheists with republicans. This is not an issue, period. They will not engage in discussion around an issue they do not see as an issue.

Third, Christian nationalism is, again, not relevant to these people. They do not see it as real nor do they see it as a real problem. They may engage with this discussion. So I don’t see a need to reword this one.

Lastly, abortion rights. This isn’t how republicans frame the issue. They view it as a human right and ending a human life early. I don’t agree, but they will not engage with someone asking why they are against “abortion rights”.

Again, let me repeat, I voted straight dem ticket last election. I am only giving my perspective based on interactions with real life republicans.
