    Hello everybody,

Alex from Immich here. What a controversy that we caused with the choice of wording, right? My personal apology to you all.

On behalf of the team, we would like everyone to know that we hear your concerns and we appreciate the love and care that you all have expressed for the project. At the end of the day, what we want most is to make sure you are all happy using the app.

With that said, we are working on a change to the word license: we will not call it licensed or unlicensed anymore. What will it be called?

We are still thinking of different options to make the wording less confusing. The new wording will hopefully showcase our intentions properly going forward.

We’re also working on updating the FAQ with more information to clarify those intentions. We just want to provide good software that people will want to pay for whilst not limiting your usage in any way if you can’t.

So expect these changes over the next week. We’re pushing this out now to let you know our appreciation for the feedback you’ve given us.

The amount of purchases in the first 24 hours has been overwhelming. Thanks everyone for the great support!

    Have a great weekend!

    Immich team.

  • No. Think about it. Where is all the video from those cameras going? It is digital video, which the homeowner probably wants to record and playback... Many home security setups, particularly those that don't rely on a cloud service, are basically a DVR back end with a security focused UI.

  • That's very much the expected outcome. In the US, at least, the law has long recognized that there are some things you just can't say without expecting a beatdown. This is called the "fighting words doctrine." Generally, it covers things like the OP example, which is very clearly a direct personal insult that a reasonable person would expect could lead to violence.

  • A geo professor once took us on a road trip as a "lab", without telling us where we were going. I actually was driving the school van, so that motherfucker had me driving for nearly 10 hours with stops at all the very best road cuts in the Midwest (one would hope.)

I am sure I would have liked it somewhat more if I weren't the one driving.

  • If only it were so easy. Nearly every large company you do business with uses Adobe for their marketing stack. Adobe likely has your data in their CDP, whether you use Adobe products or not.

  • This is way too vague to provide any useful response.

  • You ever hoovered schneef off a hooker's ass in a Burger King bathroom?

  • I've used all sorts of other ROM builds, lately I had been into LineageOS. Then I ran a stock Zenfone a while because I got sick of the never-ending treadmill of bootloader unlock>ROM>root>magisk etc etc

After 9 months with a stock phone I got a (used) Pixel and put GrapheneOS on it. From first boot it took all of 10 minutes to unlock the bootloader and install GrapheneOS. The longest part was the download. Bootloader re-locked. Easy peasy.

I'm a convert. I don't prefer the Pixel hardware, tho it's okay, but the ability to easily put my own OS on (and still use my banking apps) is pretty tits. I could revert to stock in 5 minutes.
