  • "So fucking what if an oligarch is using his position of power over a method of mass communication to shape public discourse to his will? I WANNA HEAR ABOUT ROBO DOGS OR SOME SHIT!"

Then fucking post about robo dogs. Contribute or STFU about what IS contributed.

  • It's not a paradox and it's not fascinating. It's linguistic horseshit. Allowing genocide is not fucking "tolerance" and any attempt to equate same with something like... for example... NOT allowing genocide is absolutely stupid.

Tolerance: "Ted's a bit of a loony with his religious rhetoric but it's not like he's a diddler or something."
Not Tolerance: "Ted's a racist asshole that calls for the genocide of all non-white races and acts politically to that end but we have to let it go. Also he's a diddler."

Don't diddle kids. I'm gonna write a song about that.

  • Gotta wonder how long whatever idiot executive came up with this idea is actually going to last. This is the kind of thing that gets you shitcanned whenever you ignore the CTO that tells you all it will do is piss people off, lower engagement, waste time, waste money, and never generate worthy ROI.

  • I would jizz through the roof if they did that. I have repetitive stress injuries that massively limit my gaming and the touchpads are a godsend in first person games. I set it up to act like a trackball with inertia so instead of holding a direction to turn I could just flick that way and "catch" it when it got to the right spot. Seems like a PITA but after about five minutes you completely forget it was ever weird.

Mix that in with the motion control and you can get really accurate shooting.

When I had a Deck I set it up the same way and... yeah, perfection. Just chop the middle out of the Deck and give it to me, baby. Uh huh. Uh huh.

  • Find me a performance patch in any Paradox game that requires you to buy a fucking DLC to apply.

    Or maybe just quit bullshitting.

FFS, we're talking about a relatively small developer/publisher that continually supports and develops most of their games for the better part of a decade (or more, like EU IV). I thought this shit is what people wanted but what it seems most gamers want is just any excuse to fucking whine.

  • Yeah, my thought is that this is a game they'll be supporting for 8-9 years so what the fuck does it matter if it runs like dogshit on day one? Don't fucking buy it until the performance increases and the problems you mentioned are ironed out.

    It really is that simple.

Anyone that expected this game to be perfect on launch was clearly not around whenever Cities: Skylines launched. The performance was godawful to the point that I refunded it. A couple of months and a couple of patches later shit was cleared up and I repurchased it. Didn't have an issue after that.

So yeah, the whole "Why doesn't this brand new game not have the same performance and features as a nine year old game with numerous DLCs and mods?" thing is getting fucking tiresome.

  • What this basically means is that nobody that works for GNOME is presentable to the public and they need SOMEONE that's showered in the past nine months to go out and raise money. ANYONE.

Or it means that the project is growing and they need to act like a fucking business and not a loose-knit association of nerdasses with zero actual business skills.

You know... the reason every fucking tech company has a CEO.

  • Anything vaguely allowed near the front page is instagibbed by propagandbots, spambots, and users so stupid they can't be readily discerned from same.

Stick to subject-specific subs and it's not that bad.

  • It is official; Netcraft now confirms: Lemmy is dying

One more crippling bombshell hit the already beleaguered Lemmy community when IDC confirmed that Lemmy market share has dropped yet again, now down to less than a fraction of 1 percent of all servers. Coming close on the heels of a recent Netcraft survey which plainly states that Lemmy has lost more market share, this news serves to reinforce what we've known all along. Lemmy is collapsing in complete disarray, as fittingly exemplified by failing dead last in the recent Sys Admin comprehensive networking test.

You don't need to be a Kreskin to predict Lemmy's future. The hand writing is on the wall: Lemmy faces a bleak future. In fact there won't be any future at all for Lemmy because Lemmy is dying. Things are looking very bad for Lemmy. As many of us are already aware, Lemmy continues to lose market share. Red ink flows like a river of blood.

FreeLemmy is the most endangered of them all, having lost 93% of its core developers. The sudden and unpleasant departures of long time FreeLemmy developers Hurka Durr and Tum Tatee only serve to underscore the point more clearly. There can no longer be any doubt: FreeLemmy is dying.

Let's keep to the facts and look at the numbers.

OpenLemmy leader Herp states that there are 7000 users of OpenLemmy. How many users of NetLemmy are there? Let's see. The number of OpenLemmy versus NetLemmy shitposts on Usenet is roughly in ratio of 5 to 1. Therefore there are about 7000/5 = 1400 NetLemmy users. Lemmy/OS shitposts on Usenet are about half of the volume of NetLemmy shitposts. Therefore there are about 700 users of Lemmy/OS. A recent article put FreeLemmy at about 80 percent of the Lemmy market. Therefore there are (7000+1400+700)4 = 36400 FreeLemmy users. This is consistent with the number of FreeLemmy shitposts.

Due to the troubles of Walnut Creek, abysmal sales and so on, FreeLemmy went out of business and was taken over by LemmyI who sell another troubled OS. Now LemmyI is also dead, its corpse turned over to yet another charnel house.

All major surveys show that Lemmy has steadily declined in market share. Lemmy is very sick and its long term survival prospects are very dim. If Lemmy is to survive at all it will be among OS dilettante dabblers. Lemmy continues to decay. Nothing short of a cockeyed miracle could save Lemmy from its fate at this point in time. For all practical purposes, Lemmy is dead.

    Fact: Lemmy is dying

  • There is some speculation that the special prosecutors are right-wingers prosecuting known left-winger Baldwin. I find this stupid, and there's a much simple explanation.

The special prosecutors are two middling private attorneys who are now looking at being responsible for the prosecution of a very well known celebrity and getting a win on this means they look good in front of the DA. They will absolutely fight tooth and nail to get him convicted no matter how fucking flimsy the case is because it's politically expedient for them to win.

If you ever watched The Wire... winning this case gives them MAJOR suction with the DA.
