  • 42 percent of womem voters voted for Trump. I don't see you making sweeping statements about them.

    Also

35 percent of eligible male voters didn't even vote.

    Among those 18-29, a full 50 percent didn't vote.

Among men 14-17, exactly 0 percent voted.

  • I'm not saying that issue doesn't exist, I'm saying your implication that the rise in men who have never been in relationships is a good thing is ridiculous.

First, women are in a relationship at a much higher percentage in younger age groups. The idea that women love to be in relationships but men don't is straight up sexism on your part.

There are also huge reports of loneliness and isolation among men. There are reports of a significant minority of men being bitter about not being in relationships or having sex. It's clearly a big deal.

You are arguing in bad faith in an attempt to dismiss a real issue men face.

  • Trump also claimed he could destroy a hurricane by nuking it.

I am telling you, it is not at all common to discuss being a pedophile.

You're taking an extreme minority of men and using it as an excuse to villify all men. You know, a full half of the population.

  • Okay, first you need a civics lessons. Capitalism isn't a governmental system, it's an economic system.

This economic system is widely used across the world. This includes most of Europe. Acting like this is just an invitable part of capitalism ignores the fact that the government can pass laws to create a social safety net.

They did. People living at or slightly above the poverty line have dental coverage through Medicaid. People with income above that threshold and no not have dental offered by their job have access to subsidies through the ACA.

Are there people who can't afford dental? Sure. America is a massive country. However acting like it's in any way common is insane.

  • Yes. However, the vast majority of dental issues can be solved by regular dentist appointments.

In addition, I'm pretty sure people are straight up making up stuff. Spending $700 before you break even on dental insurance is straight up fiction.

I openly question how many people in their 30s (or late 20s) are in this thread. A lot of this narrative simply isn't true for most people that age.

Also OPs parents were boomers who had children in their 30s they were most likely more affluent than average boomers

  • Look I've been in a lot of locker rooms.

First, most of the talk is some vaguely homoerotic stuff about other men's bodies and what their workout routine is.

Even when it is more misogynistic, it in no way, shape or form involves casually taking about pedophilia or molesting your relatives.

  • The meme said that their parents in their thirties were buying homes, and they can't even afford dental.

The majority of millennials have bought homes.

More importantly, the overwhelming people in the US can afford dental.

You guys make up scenarios to push BS narratives. Then spam the word "capitalism" ignoring the fact that the majority of the world runs under capitalism.

  • "Hey neighbor. I'll totally help you out during this heat wave, but only if you have the same political opinions as me. You'd better make that apparent quick, because your gas tank will only last for so long".

On some level you have to realize that's a toxic attitude, right?

  • At no point did anyone in this thread ask for you to comfort men.

I made a comment saying young men had it hard. You took it upon yourself to dismiss their struggle. Then you took it upon yourself to say their struggle doesn't matter because women have it worse and anyone who brings it up is a sexist. then you took it upon yourself to blame young men today for sexism in society that existed before you were born.

I'm asking for basic empathy towards your fellow human being. I'm wasn't even asking for you specially to have empathy, just society in general.

I am truly sorry for what you experience. However, misfortune isn't a competition. Just because women have it worse doesn't mean it's okay for men to have their own problems.

  • Okay so just to be clear.

You are in an extreme heat wave. There is no power. You see your neighbors struggling due to the heat. You have the ability to invite them over cool down. Doing so would cost virtually $0.

You instead post a meme on lemmy making fun of them.

Even if you don't get along with them, doing something like this would be a huge way to mend fences.

    EDIT:

So I the Houston Chronicle has a Texas power outage tracker. According to them, there are like 2k customers without power in the entire state.

Also, Texas doesn't have power outages related to grid capacity in the summer that often. The major power outages this year were caused by storms knocking down lines. The huge one a couple of years ago was related to cold weather.

While the Texas grid does have issues related heat waves, it's not alone in that regard. Basically every southwestern state does, including California. Someone in Texas would probably know this and understand it's ridiculous to act like this problem is unique to Texas.

So I this entire thing, like everything these days, is made up to push a narrative.

  • I'm not suggesting suicide, I'm saying I would personally have not been able to manage as a boy in today's world because of how fucked up this is.

The way I read it was that anyone who has trouble with women is doing something stupid like this. A lot of normal guys just don't have a real chance these days.
