  • “The issue can only be leveraged with specific configurations using the Host or Host_Alias directives, which are commonly used in enterprise environments,” Stratascale warned.

“The issue arises from allowing an unprivileged user to invoke chroot() on a writable, untrusted path under their control. Sudo calls chroot() several times, regardless of whether the user has corresponding Sudo rule configured,” Stratascale explained.

Although it’s classed only as a low-severity bug, users are urged to update to Sudo 1.9.17p1 or later to mitigate the issue.

  • As a remedy, the NHSTA’s recall report notes, Nissan and Infiniti dealers will inspect the engine pan of these-now recalled cars — and repair or replace the engine if necessary.

But your shit quality process already admits that failure is progressive. What are you going to do for customers who get a failure years later because of your bad manufacturing?

    Answer: nothing!

  • Repeating comment here that expresses what I feel best:

US gov has long declined to force telcos to secure their networks, while intelligence + law enforcement not only routinely allow known vulnerabilities to go undisclosed, but actively lobby for back doors. I must conclude that they're happy to roll the dice and quite likely shoot themselves in the face from time to time.

  • Had a great little Canada Day lunch celebration at work here in the US. My coworker who was born there bake a lovely maple leaf cake. I dare say it was more passionate than our independence day will be considering anyone with half a brain ought to be ashamed of this place.

But let me not make it about us any further. Beautiful country! 🍁🇨🇦 Can’t wait to visit again someday hopefully with better international relations at the time.

  • This makes sense. I have a friend from way back in HS who interned there while he was working on his degree who said that cloud services was the priority at the time, and Windows was more just a vehicle that they continued to maintain. That continues to be the approximate temperature of the product and is in line with my expectations.

  • I never understand this mindset because a person who is technically skilled like this is exactly the kind of person who wouldn’t struggle with Linux.

They’re already the kind of person who would be an excellent Linux user. I can only imagine that, for whatever reason, they’ve grown emotionally attached and are simply too stubborn to consider anything else.

  • Until the next re-bloating update where your settings get reverted and services re-installed.

Being good at de-bloating (as you may very well be to do that in a few minutes!) is an anti-skill that shouldn't have to exist.

Lemmy is probably hurting email spammers because users and community names look like email addresses.
