  • It's regular people who are stuck with a Tesla. They got sold in to the EV crowd, and until the last 5 years Tesla's were pretty much the only major fully electric option do the charging network. They were lied to by Musk with promises that never came. One thing they did get is a nifty video security system, I bet the cops are loving all the video evidence. Not everyone can just sell their car at a major loss to get something different, life ain't that easy.

I'm gonna say it; if an Arab man set someone's car on fire, or started attacking dealerships they'd be charged with terrorism with out a second thought. 5 years ago if a white man in a red marvel hat keyed a Tesla or set it ablaze, the same crowd keying/lighting cars today would be calling for blood. Sick of the "rules for you, none for me" bullshit.

Destruction of property is not a protest against Tesla, its a crime against the people who own the car, a burden on taxpayers,, fire fighters are risking their lives to put out those Tesla fires because "protesters" got upset at 1 dude they can't reach and decided to take it out on the closest person they could.

Should we start stabbing people with United Healthcare now?

  • The absurd test was mostly for the spectacle/views. Sometimes science is doing wacky things because we're curious to find the limits.

Someone else mentioned a blue truck at the crest of hill was invisible to the system, resulting in a crash. That's probably the closest to Wile E scenerio you're going to get.

  • How many set their password to your example? They just look up the password when they forget.

Its cool you got them using bitwarden, I should probably get my company to switch, I know there's a PDF company account passwords floating around....but I'm pretty low on the totem pole.

  • And remember these are the same people handling all your personal info on the computer :)

At least mine knows how to password protect pdfs...and then sends me the password in a separate email. Its not a fail, but I wouldn't call it a success either.

  • Adding on some more notes/suggestions

    • Open Camera is also a great camera alternative. You still can use all the fancy features like "night" mode, the UI is just a bit less straightforward.
    • Heliboard is also an excellent keyboard choice, if you don't like FUTO's open but not FOSS model
    • Another part of the battery issue might be the "new toy effect", its been a few weeks so may not be the case anymore, but when we get a new phone we spend hours and hours setting it up skewing our perception of the battery life. (I typically get 3 full days on Graphine on P9, with light to moderate use)
    • If you don't like Vanadium, you can try Firefox(or a fork), it has extension support, which includes UBlock Origin. There are some good privacy reasons Graphine ships with a chromium browser that you can read on the website.
    • For syncing data, Syncthing is an excellent choice. There is an IOS app fork, called Mobius Sync. Due to Apple restriction is doesn't run in the background, but just opening the app and letting it sync is a lot easier than manually doing stuff (I set a Shortcut script to open the app everyday when I'm typically using my ipad). Your also limited by Apple's "user" file system. On Android you can sync anything except the root folder, great for music, photos, docs, any exported app settings files, and keypass files if you go that route for passwords.
    • F-Droid is a great source for open-source apps. I have hesitations on the Auroa store, read it can't verifiy apps like play store does so something could be inserted mid-tranaction. Likely hood is probably 0, but something to consider.
    • You can replace the home screen launcher, the one Graphine ships with is pretty basic. Lawnchair is a very popular one. I use one called Neo Launcher (from F-droid, not the play store one with same name). There are a ton of different takes on what a launcher can be, from a super minimalist text list of your apps and some with some insane customization options.
    • Widgets are definitely app-based for what you get. Apple has a more cohesive design across them that app devs tend to (have to?) follow, while android is just a free for all.
  • Filters or buy water by the gallon. You'll have to actually talk to your neighbors, no one here can know for sure (unless your neighbor is here too).

They're doing one 1 of four things:

    • Enjoying lead free water because its a problem in your house
    • Enjoying leaded water ignorant of the lead.
    • Buying lots of bottled of water.
    • Installed a filter system.
  • "I had a dream where I went to work. And now I'm awake, I have go to work "again" with the added the bonus of sorting out reality from dream. Its a good skill, you should learn it sometime"

  • That's nice not everyone payed that close attention, they got sold a car and are now stuck with a shitty reputation by association. Some people are afraid to drive their car because they'll get harassed by people who can only see telsa driver = musk supporter.

You could blame the buyers for their ignorance, but its pretty normal to have no clue who the CEO/owner is of whatever car brand you buy. How many can name 1 beside Musk or Henry Ford?

  • Lol, a lot of rich people are rich assholes, that's nothing new. Think Bezos is saint, how about that one CEO who made people go to work during a flood, did you like Brain Thompson, Ulf Mark Schneider - do you even know who that is?or back in the day when they used to lock workers in the factory or shove children in the mines.

The rich have always been assholes, Musk is just more public about it. 5 years ago, he was just another rich owner of a company. The company made something good, so people bought it in support of the product not specifically the owner and his values, just like every time someone buys a nestle product.

  • Well, being financially stupid doesn't mean you're also a "limp dicked piss baby champagne socialist."

It don't matter how they got the car. They could have saved up for years, have been cutting costs elsewhere in life, or just have a well paying job; buying a car at 40k+ and selling it for 20k, especially if they still have 30k left on the loan is a dumb move even for the financially illiterate.

  • Not everyone is the position to sell their car, especially at huge finacial loss. So they buy the stupid sticker to make them selves feel a little better.

Many bought the thing 5+ years ago when Tesla was basically the only electric with a real charging network and in a time before Musk went from eccentric billionaire to an out-of-the-closet Nazi.

Now anyone buying one new today, that's a different story (Which makes it harder to sell the damn thing).
