  • If you use your email, it's anonymous but you have to use your email which is almost never anonymous and has your phone number. Also you sometimes have to "Create an app-specific password" that delta chat will use and gain full access to your email account, which is way worse than signal or any other application. And for some accounts, you have to use your real password, and maybe disable the spam protection.

Am I wrong somewhere or is that a really stupid idea?

  • Messages you send to other Proton Mail accounts

That's a small but important detail. If you have public keys from people at other providers, AND you trust their security (JS thing I guess), then fine. But 99.99% of the world do not have that and don't know what it means.

If you want full trust, use Thunderbird and GnuPG. Proton is a nice package but you don't control it, so no trust IMHO.

  • I use Fastmail way too much to change but I wouldn't choose it as it's the most expensive one. The good: you can create any random email for throwaway accounts, the bad: it's expensive. Mailbox.org is really ugly and their 2FA sucks (last time I checked you had to put the generated number at the end of the password which is weird and annoying) but it's the cheapest of them all if you take the light account.

If I had to change, I would go for Tuta, Posteo, or Runbox.

  • I would say Tuta or Runbox or Posteo, but the truth is that any paid account that is not Google or Microsoft is way better than anything so as not to be profiled too much with their trackers and privacy-invasive practices.

On the technical side, no email is ever safe from being read either by the sending server or the receiving one. Email hasn't changed for the past 50 years.

  • high performance cryptography tech

We have proof that the NSA and others have made discoveries way before anyone else (like the NSA with the DES algorithm, or weird stuff during WW2), but it's because they have the best mathematicians. I have noticed that the truth is always too boring for them and they always seek something deeper or more magical like Harry Potter.

  • until Xi Jinping came along

It's funny that conspiracy theories are always moving from one guy (or subject) to another as time passes by while trying to explain the same thing, like the explanations for the failed predictions of Nostradamus. Before it could have been Mao, then that other guy, then Xi Jinping...

  • He never explained both at once but he was more serious about the flat earth. I guess there would be some kind of caves underneath or something where the Shrek-people were hiding. I try to avoid him actually so it's difficult to have explanations.

One more: He had a web site for his crappy music, like some ambient and peaceful Burzum with the philosophical lyrics of a teenager (he's 40). But the GDPR happened and he believed it was a plot from Europe to destroy all the European internet. But he was too smart for them, and he deleted his web site without asking me for explanations. He had no backups for some reason.

  • Turn off the hotspot, uninstall snapshat and instagram (it's crap), remove spotify too (full of AI slop). Problem solved.

Also who watches netflix on his phone? It would be better if you pirated 360p videos, and cheaper. Don't thank me.
