  • I’m headed in that direction.

    • Minimal apps on my phone, most of them foss apps to access my self hosted services
    • Raspberry pi 4 running osmc connected to our TV. TV itself has no internet connection
    • Want to move to graphene os, but riding this iphone 12 mini until it dies
    • Linux on my server and my primary computer. Have an M1 Mac Mini that my wife primarily uses (too many papercuts for her with asahi linux. We tried and switched back), and iPadOS on the iPad Pro that I have that I’m also riding until it dies.
  • Translation:

“Fuck you for not replacing your perfectly fine and still working 10 year old machine and making our line go up more. We’re gonna do our best to brick it because we want all of your money.”

Fuck capitalism. I will (and have been) doing my absolute to avoid buying any kind of physical device that requires an app to function

  • Yes, you can do pip, you need to first expand the video to full screen, then tap the screen to bring up the on screen controls, and you should see a pip button in the upper left of the video.

Orion doesn’t have a dark mode that I’m aware of, though it mostly respects iOS dark mode (with annoying exceptions). Though with firefox extensions, you can install dark reader, or you can install the dark reader iOS app, to get dark mode on all websites.

Edit: I’m not certain that dark reader iOS app will work with orion. I don’t use the app, I use the firefox extension with orion.

  • This is true, however, Firefox focus has a built in blocker that’s pretty good, and the Orion browser for iOS actually supports Firefox extensions (even though it’s built on top of safari), and is also pretty good. I run bothe Firefox focus and Orion with ublock on my iOS devices.

  • I will! I’m happy with fedora so far, and right now I’ve been focusing on really learning bash and bash scripting. I’ve always been comfortable using the command line, but never really learned it beyond the most basic stuff, I’ve written a number of scripts now as part of this process and it’s been really fun and useful.

  • I’ve been generally happy with Ubuntu. I don’t really care for snaps, but on my headless server that’s not really an issue. I suppose I could have taken the time to uninstall snapd from the server, but I haven’t cared enough to do so.

I ran it on my desktop for quite awhile as well, but there the snap issue was much more present. I hate Firefox as a snap, and while I’m aware of the new Firefox ppa, I decided to switch to fedora since I’ve never used it and wanted to broaden my experience a bit more.

And yes, I’m aware of Red Hat/IBM’s shitty corporate bullshit too. Maybe one of these days I’ll use Arch btw.
