  • It’s not just rent seeking. It’s the point where screwing your customers isn’t enough, so you start screwing people you really shouldn’t in a normal capitalistic society; your investors, your employees, your advertisers, etc.

Basically it’s post-capitalist corporation. It used to be that customer paying cost of production + profit margin was the way you made money. Then because the product is cheap enough in the age of internet you can charge nothing and either pay for production through investors or through selling customer data to advertisers. That has the most profit per customers.

But once you’ve extracted everything from your customers and expansion that way isn’t possible, there’s only one way to increase the margin of profits. You screw over your investors, or your employees, or your advertisers. Since you have a monopoly on your customers at this point, they can’t really go anywhere else (also sunken cost), and they’ll pay upfront. You abuse the irrational behavior to its most, leading to market failure as your product does less and less, you’re rent seeking your investors, and your employees get lower and lower bonuses/salaries/empowerment.

    Your company is getting enshittification.

  • Ask once, be clean about it, look like a dork for a few minutes, if she says no, let it go and never mention it again.

The annoying creep is likely to do ask her out twice a week.

Theres no way to ask without looking weird, but the follow up is what distinguishes regular guys from creeps.

  • You misunderstand me. I’m not asking about how people could vote for him. I’m asking how can he legally be on the ballot/swore in? Surely there’s some form at some point where he has to put some citizenship proof, be it a driver license or passport number.

I’m on a visa, can I put my name on the ballot and be sworn in?

  • Mr. MacDonald had this to say about the sentencing: "In Nebraska, a man was sentenced for killing a female crossdresser [sic] who had accused him of rape and two of her friends. Excuse me if this sounds harsh, but in my mind, they all deserved to die."

In case you don’t know where to look. This (and other comments) is well documented and plenty discussed. I don’t know if I’d say he’s right wing nor would I say he’s left wing. He was definitely bigoted and sexist.

  • This is disingenuous. There are 240W chargers, just not “on the market”. If you really want one you can contact the manufacturers for an engineer sample. But since you’re likely not a device manufacturer, you won’t have any use of it since there’s no 240W sink available “on the market”.

  • That might be what some document says, but it’s definitely NOT true in the real world. Benson Leung (no longer doing reviews but still active on reddit) proved that by meticulously testing chargers from many manufacturers (some of the popular ones too).

Many chargers even amongst the popular brands could fry your device if the device isn’t being careful. I’m not sure it gotten better in the last 5 years.
