  • I love how people make such broad statements as though the ALP and LNP aren't complete fucking shitballs but hey.... The Greens policies.. After all it took 50 years ti get to the stage so we best keep digging the same hole with the tweddle dum or tweedle dee. As though a livable planet is such an unecessary thing and not the basis of everything we are.

  • I don't know the details of how that works, but yeah, it's possible for the vast majority of home borrowers to be on fixed rates.

Essetially "socalism", In the US Goverments backed Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, so commercial banks had to compete for loans.

We'd need a government bank to do the same, I think its part of The Greens policy to reestablish one and offer them? but we'd need way more voters to pivot Green, thay seems unlikely, so we're left with the same stupid, repeating the same stupid mistakes... we sold the last Government bank off.

Or legislation and that's never going to happen with ALP/LNP.

  • Bluesky is the enshitification continuing. Sort of Mastodon on a single, godlike instance which they control..

I know ved the one on my Gakaxy Nte 9. I had it unlocked before it was out of my pocket or picked up, the one on the Pixel Pro 6 was so bad I got rid if the phone after a month, the Samsung Note22u i am on now sucks but not quite as bad.

Damn it bring it back like the Note 9! Worked 99/100 and was fast.

  • Indeed, this in the FT yesterday

If Europe wants to see how Chinese manufacturers could affect its all-important car industry, it could do worse than look to Norway. Fully 94 per cent of cars sold in the Nordic country in October were electric, putting it on course to hit a target of no new fossil-fuel passenger vehicles next year.

Chinese carmakers sold no cars in Norway in 2019; this year so far, they have managed to take 11 per cent market share. Brands such as MG, BYD and Xpeng are common sights on Norwegian streets. Perhaps most telling is that Oslo’s main shopping strip Karl Johans Gate has only one car dealership on it: Nio, a relatively new Chinese brand.

The US and EU have sought to stem the rise of Chinese electric cars with tariffs, but Norway has pointedly refused to follow suit.

  • Which let's them run the line at the next election about being tough on crime and only they are up to the task. Win win /s

  • Well yes, that's literally the way Conservative governments operate, you're catagorised as one of them if you're in the club as a hard working ,upstanding citizen and you're a grifter if not. They have no time for people they see as "grifters", which is most people.

The politics of envy sees many who suffer under conservatives vote for them in the hope they too can have somone to look down upon when they are "successful "...any day now.

  • Yeah, same here, zero fucks given, they're people, let them move where they want. The upside, if I dont like it I can fuck off.

  • I hope it languishes around 3-4% at most, if it does get 7%-10% enshitification inevitably ensues and it will grow more and get worse

  • Seems like this is a lot of work to avoid using a poop knife?

  • Good, made a decision decades ago to have a vasectomy as there are way to many people in the world and misquoting Thoreau, what use a kid if no livable planet to raise them on ?

I always felt if the need to be a parent overwhelmed, I could adopt any number of abandoned kids.

I like kids but I'd fell way to guilty about having any. Not having them also let me retire at 35 and pursue my own interests, I'm now 58.
