  • In the case of the meme, the item which is more expensive is the same item marketed differently. As in, exactly the same item. The insane financing scheme is referencing a popular pizza chains "pay it in 4" for a pizza order, which is both similarly comical and malicious. Both things prey on time-poor, tech-illiterate, or uneducated users to increase profit margins without needing to improve or adjust the service or goods being provided.

  • I had similar bad luck with Linux mint. So many things just didn't work, or didn't work correctly. Wifi issues, sound issues, graphics issues, issues setting up particular things for software development. I've switched to NixOS and I'm having a much easier time. A significant amount of my improved experience could be attributed to more patience or just an improved ability to deal with problems. I also suspect cinnamon was causing some of my problems, somehow whereas now I have GNOME on my main rig and lxqt on my laptop.

  • I'm curious to know how that was your takeaway from the movie. The protagonist was wrongly imprisoned and I thought the film thoroughly demonstrated the worst of humanity in some of the incarcerated, juxtaposed against the corruption of prison staff and the protagonist's own struggle for a pretty powerful message.

Maybe I need to watch it again. It's been years.

  • In that sentence, they're not referring to Ecosia specifically. Rather, they're implying that you can choose a search engine which aligns to that value. A little weird to include it with no examples, in a post specifically about Ecosia, but I believe that's the intent.
