  • I was driving from Bakersfield to LA and pulled off the highway to get some gas. It was one of those exit ramps that goes down lower than the highway. I'm sitting at the light waiting to turn left and go under the highway, when a car comes flying off the highway upside down. It is airborne and goes right over top of my car. It hits the ground, slides until it hits the other side of the road and somehow rolls back onto its wheels. It then tries to take off but just crashes into fence and stops. A few moments later a parade of police cars came hauling ass down the exit ramp. I just drove straight back onto the highway and stopped at the next gas station.

  • I started using Crunchbang because it was so lightweight and ran great on Virtual Box on Windows 7. I stopped using it, when they stopped developing it. I wasn't aware of ++. I will be installing it this evening.

  • Cycling is the same way. There is a huge difference between a $200 Walmart bike and $800 bike from an actual bike store. But there are people out there dropping $10k or more on a bike.

I remember the first time I went to get new tires for my road bike, the guy was like, "we have $20 ones and $50 ones." When I asked what the difference was he said, "the $50 ones weigh about 2 oz less"

Again it's all about finding the happy middle ground. I've purchased all of my bikes used or previous models. Yes, bicycles can have model years and you can save big when the new ones come out and they want to get rid of the old ones.

  • It's my wife's all time favorite show, so I really tried. Some of the early arcs were a drag (cough, cough, Arabasta, cough). But from Water 7 through Marineford it just got better and better, and I really enjoyed it. Even after the time skip Dressrosa and Whole Cake were for the most part engaging. But man, Wano was such a slog. By the time they finished the flashback, I just didn't give a shit about that island anymore. I'm tempted to just skip to Egghead, or give One Pace a shot.

  • I wish my cat would do cute things like that. When she wants to eat she just sits by the door and gives me a death stare. Then if I don't notice her after a bit she'll tear around the house like mad while making the fox em noise from Robinhood Men in Tights.

  • In the same vein I have odd shaped feet. They are very narrow at the heel but get really wide at the ball of my foot. My sister used to tell me I had tennis racket feet. Never found shoes that would fit. Regular would be too tight on my toes but wide would be too loose on my heels.

That was until I found Altra. They actually make shoes that fit my foot shape. Consequently, they stopped me from getting shin splints too.

  • I would think the environment factors into that a lot too. I've had 30 mile rides kick my ass more than 80 mile rides due to things like hills and wind. But put me on a stationary bike and I could probably go 150+ miles in a day.

  • I remember the last time, I almost bought a map. Back in 2006 I had just moved to one of the largest metropolitan areas in the US. I went to Walmart to get one of those local atlas books, and saw it was like $75. They had Garmins on sale for around $100. Bought a Garmin and haven't purchased a non-decorative map since.
