  • I had an uncle that did that for years. In the summer he worked in silver mines and in the winter he worked ski patrol. He eventually quit because in his words, "I got tired of risking my neck for dumb rich guys who couldn't stay where they were supposed to."

He was also a cliff diver and lived in an honest to God log cabin. I spent a summer with him once where I had to chop all of his firewood for the winter.

The best memory I have is when he spilt his beer all over the living room and my aunt walks in and goes, "It smells like a Turkish brothel in here." My uncle completely straight faced answered, "no it doesn't." Well it turns out he spent some time in a Turkish brothel in the 70s as well.

  • I've been blocking every news and politics community that shows up in my All feed because I like to try to discover new communities but got sick of all the politics. It has made for a much nicer experience.

  • Honestly, I rewatched season 1 again a couple of years ago and it didn't really hold up for me. The Niki and Micah storyline just seemed to slow everything down. I don't know if it the newness factor wore off or if my tastes have changed, but it just didn't have the same feeling.

  • There are dozens of us!

But seriously, I think we had one of the most interesting technological evolution of any generation. Going from using the Dewey decimal system and encyclopedias early on, to using the internet before graduating.

  • Reaper. It was a fun show with a great premise. Basically, a couple sells their sons soul to the devil before he is born. Then on his 21st birthday the devil arrives and informs him he is going to be a bounty hunter for hell. Also, Ray Wise played an awesome devil.

  • I would consider what my company is doing right now as board line abuse. They've done two rounds of layoffs this year, but the amount of work as not been reduced in the slightest. So everyone is overworked and scared of saying anything in case there is another round of layoffs. Of course this is also having a ripple affect where long-term hardworking employees are jumping ship.

I currently have a backlog that is four years long. That was when I had a team working for me. Now I'm the only person on the team and not a week goes by when I don't get ask what the status of XYZ is. Or have 2-3 more "high priority" things added to my backlog.
