  • Just like the constitution, states can add to, but not take away from federal department of education regulations. For example, the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a law that makes available a free appropriate public education to eligible children with disabilities throughout the nation and ensures special education and related services to those children. Changing laws if difficult and no one wants to go on record voting against special needs. So they can just get rid of the department that enforces laws and say they are leaving up to the states.

As someone who lives in a red state and has a child with special needs, the IDEA law is the only reason my child gets any support in school. If they get rid of the department of education then states like Texas can reduce their special education services even further, so they can build more multi-million dollar high school football stadiums.

  • So I have a conspiracy theory around that. Android used to put the volume slider at the top of the screen. At some point they moved it to the right side, and now blocks the skip button on YouTube. I won't doubt this was done on purpose, so if you lower the volume for an ad, you will be forced to watch more of it.

  • I've seen a lot of bad things. But one that has always stuck with me was a guy studying.

I'm not talking about glancing down at a book. He had a textbook propped up on his steering wheel and was using a highlighter to mark in the book.

  • This is basically repeated every 10 years. Some of them will stick around for the long-term some will die. I don't for see skibidi or gyatt stick around long-term. At least not unironical. I'm in my 40s and I don't have any peers who still use words like "phat" or "whateves". But someone saying bling would not seem out of place.

  • Don't forget the situations where you find a good blog post or article that you can actually follow along until halfway through you get an error that the documentation doesn't address. So you do some research and find out that they updated the commands for one of the dependency apps, so you try to piece together the updated documents with the original post, until something else breaks and you just end up giving up out of frustration.

  • Can you change the report for this one customer who has a nonstandard completely fucking stupid set up that none of your collection points account for and goes against the entire point of this report?

Well, maybe not those exact words. It's more like:

    • rep: customers XYZ doesn't like what they see on the report
    • me: well tell them to clean up their shit and stop leaving orphaned systems in their environment
    • rep: well can't you just exclude the orphaned ones
    • me: the point of the report is to help you clean up your environment. If they did that it would show improvement week over week until it got to the levels they want to see.
    • rep: they don't want to do that, they just want them excluded from the report
    • me: no
  • My first thought too. I can listen to their entire discography without skipping a single song. And they are even better live. Saw them a month ago and even after tonsil cancer Mike hasn't slowed down a bit.
